Don’t know if I agree.

Whitlock’s worth is no more than a second rounder at best. Is a F1 and a second rounder enough? Unlikely
whilst i do agree i dont think it will happen, most of the time clubs receive a little bit below what their players are worth. especially him being OOC.

if we offer this day 1 of trade period saints will reject it then except it in the final hour once we chuck in some random 3rd round pick, classic..

Whitlock is worth more than what he was drafted at because of how strong the 2024 draft class were rated. He was listed around the teens in a lot of draft discussion.

Whitlock in this year's draft would likely be a high first rounder.
There were talks about how Matt Whitlock would be a top 10 pick or something like that in this year's draft earlier this week on SEN which considering the quality and depth, I can see that. Therefore, it makes a lot of sense if this was applied to Jack as well imo.

Taking a look at the draft hand of the following clubs as it stands

St Kilda: 4, 40, 59

Brisbane: 17, 37, 41, 46, 49, 58, 71 (1616 points)

Sydney: 9, 27, 45, 63 (2038 points)

Gold Coast: 8; this hurts, 13, 18, 31, 56, 67 (3788 points)

Port Adelaide: 26, 44, 62

Obviously this year's draft is compromised so it complicates things. There are some murmurings about GC looking to trade up and draft another player before all their academy players starts getting bids. I hope that the GC's academy players in Zeke Uwland, Dylan Patterson and Beau Addinsall start playing the living hell so it makes it hard for them to trade up.

Brisbane has Dan Annable who is shaping up to be a top 5 pick and Swans has Max King; top 10 pick, Lachlan Carmichael and Noah Chamberlain are shaping up to be top 30 prospects.

These three Northern clubs will no doubt be looking to add more points. Therefore, it stands to reason Port should attempt to negotiate trades with these clubs if they wish to satisfy St Kilda's "demands" and if St Kilda wants to "invest" in this draft as to not further "delay" their rebuild. No doubt Port will throw in their 2026 1st rounder and work from there.

Port valued Whitlock as a first round grade going into the draft, and are happy with his development to date.

Exactly right - Jack was rated as a top 20 player in the phantom drafts for his year. He was a big slider. And according to all the draft experts, a pick 20 player last year would go around pick 5 in this years draft. Hell, North were willing to trade their first (pick 4ish) for pick 13. Whitlock would be the equivalent of a very high first round draft pick in the eyes of recruiters. He wouldn't be the steak knives in a Nas deal, he would be the centre of it.

An OOC Nas would be worth pick 5 (equivalent) + a 2nd rounder. Maybe some later pick swaps.

Trying to process all of this. Make no mistake NWM would be a fantastic addition to our side. We must have someone else in mind though to fill the longer term void that losing Whitlock will cause. Maybe if we keep our second round pick this year, we nab one of the SA tall forwards.

If a raw KPF taken at pick 30 something is what moves the needle for St. Kilda you are doing it every day of the week, I really like Whitlock but getting the hairs rising up ya skirt over this is absurd particularly with our track record developing KPFs.

Those names are that should fill the long term void probably are Dougie Cochrane and Zemes Pilot (NGA)

NWM and Keeler who was pick 44 and out of contract for Berry, Whitlock who are both technically 1st round picks or rated as such PLUS Whitlock contract until 2026 and Berry 2027 so contracted and a future 1st 2026 plus this year's pick 44 for shits and giggles. Done. That's technically 3 1st round picks and change for Nas and. 3rd round out of contract player.

Do people really want another year of Lord and Finlayson? If Whitlock goes, Finlayson will stay as depth and Lord still is contracted for next year and those two are not the answer for obvious reasons.

Before people say, there’s still Cochrane and Pilot, there’s no guarantee they will be playing as tall forwards at AFL level and we’ll still be crying out for a key forward as those two will develop.

It’s insane how all of a sudden people are happy to pay the value of 3 x 1st rounders essentially for NWM.

Guess that must mean people here rate NWM higher than JHF or Butters if people here want to pay up that much for him.

By that logic, Nick Daicos, Sam Darcy or Harley Reid must be worth 5 x 1st rounders minimum since they are a “generational talent”.

Seriously, what was the whole point of entering last years draft if Port are just gonna trade away them next season? What was the whole point of allowing Houston to leave?

Yep, let’s just trade away Berry, Whitlock etc. whom Port went to great lengths to acquire the picks to get them.

The whole entire list management should just quit. It’s already bad enough that shitty Houston deal went through but now the two kids Port went a lot to acquire those picks would make the whole Houston situation even more shitty.

Why should Port trade on St Kilda’s terms? You want Port to bend over and accept their demands?
