Why did Dawson and rankine choose the crows when they were a bottom four club with several years of disappointment ahead of them.

This whole why choose port thing is seriously overrated in my view.
Especially when you consider last year we finished 2nd and they finished 15th. People make way too much of current positions; things can change in a heartbeat.

I don’t think it would be lost on him that we’ve finished top 3 the two previous seasons and that a midfield rotation of NWM, Butters, JHF, Rozee, Bergman and Wines is going to be pretty damn hard to beat and outside Wines those guys are only just hitting their prime or still a few years away.

That’s a scary good midfield group for years to come.

Add to that two of his closest mates are here.

If he requests are trade to us, lets hope he does it right after round 24, not deep into finals and make it seem like he is waiting for the clowns to lose in the finals.
If he does, it'll be after the Saints' B&F. Williams will give him some talking points to deflect the questions after his acceptance speech.

Port would be negligent to not go all in for NWM where there is a chance you can snag him.

Though if this all comes down to money, Saints will blink and pay him the moon.

If this all comes down to money, with both clubs variously reported as flush and positioned for a bidding war, then it actually comes down to trust, relationships... and which "footy vision over time" NAS sees as a better fit for himself.

Seriously though, how does this trade get done?

We tell Saint Kilda what we can give them. They bend over and accept.

Kind of what we've done the other way.

It will get done, just will take the entire trade period to happen. Will most definitely involve our 26 and 27 first round picks, as well as Whitlock or Berry. Highly likely Saints will want one of the first rounders to be a top 10 this year and not futures. We will need to involve a team like the Suns, who have our pick and it will be top 10. They need to trade back to ensure they don’t waste that pick on their academy picks, namely Uwland.
Could see the final trade being something like:

  • Pick 8 this year (our original pick back from Gold Coast. Could be even lower by end of the season)
  • 2026 first rounder (can argue that will likely be a top 10 as well)
  • Whitlock / Berry

That is your two top 10’s and another “first rounder” from last year.

Trying to get that pick back from Gold Coast is the issue. 2027 first rounder will be involved somewhere, plus some second / third rounders for points.

Aints fans think we are going crazy offering this, they are so delusional.

Saying stuff like, hes the best player in the comp.

Port offer to NWM will definitely start with a 2 in front of it for the first 2 years.
What's after that could shock some

If i had to guess id would say our current offer is north of 2mil for first 2 season, then for the next 6-7 seasons 1.7-1.8mil.

This means he would be 2mil on average.

Seriously, why would he want to come to Port if he cares about his career? We have an unknown entity, Carr, mentored by a known entity Ken and a bunch of insipid players.
I wouldn’t really blame him if he decided he wanted to come home but chose our neighbours. Who wants to be on a loser?
Disappointing, but that is where we are at and what our administration has done.
I am seriously losing interest in our team and in the AFL in general.
Please Port supporters please stop this sooking and bedwetting. The Cows have been stronger than us for about 4 months out of the last 7 years.

Things are never as bad as they seem and never as good as they seem.

Precisely.

Even saw a crows fan have a bit of self awareness and admit there is no reason that Nas wouldn't pick Port due to our ladder position, and admitted that Rankine/Dawson joined the crows at similar points in time
