Hi all - it's been a while since I visited most of you, been too depressed since the closure of the old rivals site.

This is an e-mail I received from a friend who played reserves foty a few years back. He's made some observations on just how some of our "better" players are traveling. It makes interesting reading to see just how we are perceived from the outside looking in.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am worried for Spud - he is now
certainly out of the honeymoon period & looks to be struggling a bit.
Coghlan looks good, and Fiora also is Ok and Rodent is exciting, but too
many of your mid level players like Tivendale and Kellaway cant get near it,
and your best ballgetter Bowden still doesnt give a toss about how he
disposes of the ball - he looks to just be chasing kicks and his heart
certainly doesnt appear to be in it. Gaspar is certainly not earning his
$600k - and Matty Knights should follow Stewies lead and annonce his
retirement. Good to see the Richmond Fans doing their usual woodwork trick -
22,000 was the "official crowd" - if you convert that to real numbers I
reckon it would be about 18,000.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So that's it - Bowden, Tivendale etc aren't perceived that well in the outside world so maybe they wouldn't fetch as much as we might have hoped if we looked at trading them.

Tivendale is probably too one dimensional and isn't afforded the space needed to deliver the ball as we know he can. Pettifer is just as good a kick but also can do many other things. Indeed, given a decent feed and some quality time in the gym, he may well turn out to be the 'Kane Johnson' that so many are keen to get.

I am not sure about where Bowden is at. I actually thought he wasn't too bad last Saturday aside from that pathetic attempt to block that goal in the last quarter.

As for Gaspar and the defence - I think Brisbane sent the ball into their forward 50 something like 70 times. To be kept to the score they did meant that the defence was doing something right. Sure Lynch did kick 7, but 2 of those were from free kicks that were just plain wrong and a few others were from passes that nobody would be able to stop. Gaspar is suffering from so many other players being down.

I agree on Gaspar CJ ... he's suffering fom having so many down around him and carrying the entire defence himself. There is two players who suffer the most when a team is down - your best forward and your best backman.

Losing Holland early in the year, poor years from Cameron, Vardy and Andy Kellaway, and the loss of form over the last 6 weeks of Jason Torney has put so much extra burden on Gas. I was almost relieved for the guy a few weeks ago when he had a week off to get over an injury .... He needs some help !! $600,000 bucks per year is pretty cheap for your ENTIRE defence !!

Given he is carrying a groin injury nad has to carry the defence and is on a 5 year contract is it maybe time to rest him for the rest of the year?Perhaps not this week but when we get to say 3-5 rounds left.. We have made a lot of short term decisions over the year its time to make some smarter long term ones and this would be a good start....

Wish DePasquale had been brought off the rookie list earlier, it's a bit late now. Wonder if he's playing this week heard he got knocked out last game but they didn't say if he'd be right or not this week.

Oops my bad:rolleyes: I should have said I wish they had brought DePasquale off the rookie list as now it's a bit too late. Sorry bout that:D

they cant bring in de pasquale, because we have that incompetant buffoon Brayshaw, handing out big fat contracts to anyone that smiles at him.

I heard a few weeks ago on Tiger Club Corner that De Pasquale had a very good chance of been promoted in the next few weeks but I guess it isn't going to happen this year :confused.btw Draggas_Girl7 nice sig you have at the momment I really like it :D.
