ive come across a lot of historical stats in my time of BF.

the two ive heard most are that

1. the team that wins the most recent encounter between the two GF sides usually loses the GF.

2. no team has gone 12-0 to start a season, and missed the GF.

i heard a 3rd today, on here, but it was quoted in the sunday mail in SA. in the last ten years, no side has won the premiership after losing 2 out of the last 4 rounds.

this means historically, saints and cats shouldnt miss the GF. but both the saints and cats have lost 2 out of the last 4 rounds.

its like an episode of the x-files. draw between saints and cats in the GF is the likeliest scenario, i guess.

personally, i dont put much thought into these stats of "this means that will happen, and because this happened a few years in a row, it will happen again this year." starting this thread would suggest otherwise, but its true. cant wait for the QF. dogs or pies, bring it. its going to be great. gotta love the cats.

**** also, for whats it worth, there was a bit of a meltdown from a few saints supporters on their board after norf got them today. guess its a supporters thing. pessimism is easy, optimism risky. but still, gotta love the cats. ****

I had a great time reading the saints board this morning. They turn quicker than a hungry rattle snake. Hillarious!. I suggest everyone goes and has a quick read, its very enjoyable!

Sounds just like our board.

Did they want all of their players to piss off to the Gold Coast as well?

Stats are meant to be broken perhaps?

Statisically speaking the AFL (not VFL) is still in its infancy. The game has changed so much that it is probably not worth looking at long term trends, and short term trends are just plain silly.

All we need to know is that right now we are down in form, the finals are around the corner and the boys need to find whatever it is they have lost recently (fun and enjoyment??) to get to the Grand Final and then hopefully win it.
