Off Topic: Board Name

This has been bugging me, not sure about anyone else...

I'm not a fan of 'our' board title... Collingwood Magpies.

I'd prefer it to just be 'Collingwood'.

Whenever we talk about the team, I've never heard anyone say... 'I go for the Collingwood Magpies' or 'How good were the Collingwood Magpies today'.

So is it just me? or does anyone else want the board to just be called 'Collingwood'?

It doesn't bug me as much as it obviously does you but I agree, what's with the "Magpies" on the end?

We are the Collingwood Football Club, not the Collingwood Magpies Football Club.

I'd prefer Collingwood FC, or just plain Collingwood.

I agree, it does bug me a little when I see the Magpies, I'd simply change it to Collingwood FC

I always thought that Bigfooty was owned by a disgruntled Port supporter. As far as I know, after you say the word "collingwood" the rest isn't needed.

I associate the "FC" suffix with soccer clubs - Sydney FC, Liverpool FC, Collingwood FC, they're just different teams that play the same game, right?

I'm happy with simply "Collingwood" because we're not a soccer club.

But I wouldn't die in a ditch over it.

When I was growing up, you'd hardly hear anyone say Collingwood magpies. It started happening when the AFL began and the Coasters were known as the West Coast Eagles and sometimes, the Eagles but they were rarely called West Coast. The same thing happened when Adelaide joined and they were the Adelaide crows. Brisbane Bears was used because the Brisbane Broncos were a better known football team.

So interstate people started calling us the Collingwood Magpies but it's a waste of words. It's like saying Collingwood twice. Once you say Collingwood, the whole world knows what you're talking about.

Anyway, I like the change. Its been annoying me a little since I joined. But then, not many things annoy me as long as we're winning premierships
