I keep flipping between going fully unique and going fully generic. As far as im concerned there is no happy middle ground this time. Either i start with 10 pods or i start with none.

PODS could include:

J.Martin, Gresham, McGrath, McCluggage, Rayner, C.Curnow, Z.Fisher, Ainsworth, Ward

No pods for me. I always get them wrong and then end up burning trades trying to fix them. My plan is to have a very vanilla starting line up next time.
I'm with you next year. No PODs at all for me either.

1. Will crowd-source the rookies (% owned)
2. OK going with 2-3 midpricers if they present
3. Will go boring and just premo match on highly owned blokes.

Tried a different tack this year (try to change things up a little from year to year) and you’ve got to nail the blokes you short or you’re pretty much ****ed from the word go.

TLDR: Vanilla is the new black.

Good thread, interesting perspectives [emoji106]

Next season I'm just gonna go with my gut more and embrace the mid price madness.

Kind of annoyed that didn't this year as I had Newman, B.Crouch, Gaff, Sheed, Libba and Rocky all in my early draft teams along with classic thrillings Billings.

Doesn't find enough of the ball and is very slow. Is he still being starved of opportunity in the middle? Hope I am proven wrong, but I can't see it

Might explain his form.

Not one for planning rookies this far out, but Gould looks like a prime candidate if he goes to a club which gets games intois first year players and lacks that loose rebounding defender type.

Wins the contested ball, intercept marks, clean skills, booming long kick... if he goes to the right club (Not adelaide) he should be right for a 70 average.

I will prob start them in the end but im wondering wether Danger and the Gull are starters for my team next year. I guess I will just have to see who is available but as I said I really want to limit the 600k plus players in my team thinking like no more than 3.

Grundy and Macrae are 2 locked in.

Lycett was going to be my R2 and I was going to pass on gawn but this recent dropping has changed my view. I could go ROB as a cheaper option but not sure he has 110 average in him which is what I want. I suppose I could go marshall but if im forking out that much I may as well just get gawn again.

Why?

If anything I have learnt to start with the best and to **** off the mid-pricers.

lol as if anyone would pick Parish.

I'll consider starting with a Crouch priced at 100 but not both. Matt more likely, but Brad at a different club would be an interesting proposition (if he moves club)

Have a look at the spuds listed there Parish is better than at least half of them.

That was my strategy this year and hasnt worked. What was ur strategy this season?

- No back premos - big mistake
- Started with 6 mid premos - Macrae, Cripps, Fyfe, Oliver, Cogs, MCrouch - on balance, good move
- Started with Gawndy - good move
- Started with Danger, Heeney, Dunkley - on balance, good move if I didn't waste trades on Rough moves

In hindsight, should have dumped a mid premo and started Seagull.

Sounds like my starting team.

I had Williams at D1. FML. 😭

I started with Matt Crouch @ M2 :D

Doesn't have to be MPM, but a couple mid-pricers if they work are golden.

Plenty of the top 100 still have Brad and Sheed at M8
