Not yet, there's a guy named Shane Warne who may just get the nod at this stage.

He had to bowl on roads for most of this series.

He has pretty much admitted that there is a couple of deliveries that he just can't bowl anymore due to the injuries on his shoulder. The flipper bieng one of them.
He may bowl as well but his bag of tricks has been reduced. And it is a shame as the flipper was lethel.

Must agree with Crooked Rain.
Those pitches weren't roads. Granted, they favoured the batsmen, but MacGill turned them from day one, and Kumble was quite successful.
A good spin bowler could succeed on those pitches.
You reckon, two different bowlers (left and right) but both give it a bit of air. Who else would be inline for a call up, not too many good finger spinners going aroundZeke said:Xavier Doherty > Nathan Hauritz

Still have my doubts about his bowling. He's awkward to face at first, but when you get used to his unusualness, then he's way easier to handle. He doesn't have the variation of Kumble as of yet, coz he needs it.
He has a flipper and a wrong'un, but don't have total control over those balls yet. You gotta fear that the Indians will belt the crap outta him, as if Brett Lee ain't expensive enough
corporal said:The Indians are probably going to belt the hell out of any young spinner. The thing that separates White from the rest is his temperement and his leadership qualities which probaby better equips him for a Indian pasting.

Of course he is.VoR said:Casson is a better bowler than White.
If not White, then who?Cooldude said:Don't know about this, Whitey might do a Warnie and get caned by the Indians on his debut

correct.VoR said:Casson is a better bowler than White.
Cooldude said:So basicly you're saying we're sending out the best young spinner who's the most equipped on copping an absolute royal-smacking from the Indians![]()
Its been mentioned here before, but besides Watson, no one else has achieved more before turning 21. One of the main things he has over the other young spinners (Casson, Doherty) is that he has better control, this would be critical as he will be there to support Warne, not to be the number one striker. He has maturity beyond his years and has in recent seasons been in India with the CBCA as the main spinner. The sub-continent is physically and mentally demanding, White is by far an excellent choice.corporal said:yes
temperament is very important when bowling in India and I think White has the confidence and ability to keep his head up in pressure situations.
