That was a pissweak dismissal tonight. Can't believe he hooked it straight to the trap.

White's looking iffier now, 1 decent knock out of 4 and his bowling's given us nothing.

He has only has 3 knocks since being recalled. Once he finds his feet he will be right. No doubt he has what it takes.

Re: What are Whites deficiencies?

strengths :
Good slogger at the death ...like others have said , ideal for number 7 batting first. not really reliable to bring home the side in a tight run chase.

great fielder

young ..plenty of time to develop .

defficiencies .

His top spinners are too easy for batsmen to get on top of ...his bowling at this stage is just not up to International standard .

lets hope he develops his bowling as i see him as a long term prospect in the Aussie one day side .
well spotted

He made a golden duck in his first innings, which was back in 2005. Sure, it's no good but his innings today was worse than that duck...4 off 15 or whatever it was shows you have more signs of struggling than stuffing up one ball.

He was impressive in his first innings since his recall, but he needs to show that he can handle pressure situations - needed to step up today but didn't. He's still very much on the fringes of the side but hopefully he finds his feet if he is retained for the next match.

You might want to get used to the sight of White in the Australian team. Fact is the Australian selectors will be building the future Australian team around White, Clarke & Watson. This is becoming more & more apparent as time passes. The rest of the team will come from the likes of Hilfenhaus, Jaques, maybe Rogers, Tait etc. Many positions will be up for grabs in the next 1-2 years, but White, Clarke & Watson will become the backbone that the team is built around.

I do believe you are right but is this more to do with who you know (Merv Hughes) than what you've done in Cameron's case .

:thumbsu: :)

More excuses. 1 over for 6 runs and 5 from 15 with the bat. His batting average was about 16 before last night and surely might not remain in double figures.

Play Hogg - he will get wickets and can handle the bat

Bat CL White AT 4

thats were he makes his runs not at blooding 7 if he bats at 7 next game i demand him to be dropped he wasted at 7 and he is wasted with the ball

Re: Bat CL White AT 4

You fool. He has FAILED at international level after being given a good run by Ponting. Does nothing with the ball and he had one good 20/20 innings and that was it.

Yeah, moving him to 4 will solve that problem. He does not bat at 4 for his state, lets demote Clarke, Symonds, and Hussey........heck, even Lee and Bracken are better batsmen at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, i'm a fan of White and he will make it in the one day side evenutallly.

It was just such a soft dismissal last night in a crux run chase. 2 men on the boundary behind square and he sent it straight down their throat. Also it was the last over left of NZ's 4 frontliners, was just part-timers McMillan and Astle to face from then on, he should have just seen Gillespie off.

He hasn't bowled much but that's been disappointing too so far and doesn't look like giving him any edge there. Would take a few more failures yet b4 they'd drop him tho. For his sake i hope he makes a good 50 soon, preferably chasing (if he gets another chance).

If Watson were fully fit today, I'd have him in there ahead of Hayden opening or White at #7.

The problem with his bowling is yes, he is not bowled a lot but he does nothing with the ball to give Ponting the confidence to keep him bowling. When you have limited opportunites, you need to take your chances and White is not doing that

some issues with whitey, clearly his batting is a worry. he needs more time. cant just drop him when others in the team have been given a good run in previous years. would be gret if he could play each innings like a 20/20 game, but as his past 2 innings have shown he needs to improve his play during pressure situations. the only way he can is to play.

Re: Bat CL White AT 4

maybe in 5-8 years time when White is an established member of the team. But right now hes at the bottom of the preference list and should be happy just to be in the team. Every other player has earned their place through playing with what theyve got and making the most of their opportunities.
Being 23 or so, hes got plenty of time.

Yes he does...

But back to the topic no leave him where he is.

Problem with White at the moment is that he is struggling with the bat and only bowling 1 over per match. Hogg would be a beter option at the moment.

Re: What are Whites deficiencies?

I think he's got a heap of potential but he needs to change his bowling action, he is never going to get turn with his arm that high. He also needs to develop his game further so his only big run getting shot is the big shot over midwicket, I'm not saying he doesn't have others but he hasn't shown them at international level.
I see him as our future no.6 in both forms of the game but he needs to keep working on his cricket to get there.

Why do people keep talking about dropping White for Hogg?

White and Hayden replaced Watson and Martyn. Hogg has been struggling to play cos we keep playing the 4 quicks. Hogg at #7 then 4 quicks is just way too long a tail.
