Kelly, SJ, Ricco on EMG list?

Lets hope bomber resists temptation of those SMS messeges and gives Kelly a few more weeks in the 2's, reckon it will be just what he needs ala, Bartel and Chappy.

Hopefully only Playfair comes in and the other 3 remain on the sidelines!

Kelly - Been OK in his VFL games, but didn't dominate like you would expect he would. Admittedly last week was played in atroscious conditions.

SJ - When the **** will Geelong learn. He was terrible last week. He was at his selfish best. Tried to play 'fancy' football when it was pouring rain and tried to pick the ball up one handed. Also had the ball once about 55m with Davenport running free to his right, instead of handpassing (which would have seen Davenport have a free run at goal) he tried to evade 2 players and got caught holding the ball. SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED WHILE HE CONTINUES TO PLAY THAT CRAP!!

Riccardi - It's unfortunate, because he is too good for VFL level, but I don't think Ricco should play in the AFL this year. Because, what is the point? It's not as if he is at his blistering best. He would be a pinch hitter in the AFL at best, and he has already said he will retire at the end of the year, so what is the benefit of playing him. He cannot reach 300 games anymore, and I would much rather the place be given to a younger player who can get a bit more experience (or some experience) to improve for the future. Would rather see Ryan Gamble be given an opportunity.

Playfair - Whilst he hasn't been in much form, he is the obvious replacement for Cam Mooney.

Thought Shannon Byrnes would be put in as he'd be able to run with the Bulldogs' pace.

After last week's 19 possessions in half a game (and appalling conditions) and kicking a goal from the boundary with his wrong foot, and named in the best for the past times he's played in VFL, he's still not let in?

Instead Kelly and Steve are let in, when they haven't earned their spot!

GRRRRR.

The whole idea of putting Kelly back into the reserves was for him to find form and as far as i can tell, discipline him a little.

IMO Kelly should stay in the VFL for another 2 weeks and i'd be bitterly disappointed if he came straight back in after a 2 week stint, when others have been there for most of the season.

I TOTALLY agree with you Eliiiiza! I REALLY thought Shannon was gonna get a game this week especially after being rested for half the VFL game last weekend.

As for Kelly and SJ I REALLY hope they aren't included back in the team. I know the conditions last week were nothing short of shocking BUT both SJ and Kel didn't do anything spectacular to earn a spot back in the snr's. I hope ricco comes into the side but I'm not holding my breath. His a great classy player but is he up to it? I mean is it worth us bringing him in if he can only play a small amount of game time. It would put pressure on other players do you think?

Playfair- I'm happy he has got the gig. Wouldn't be in the team if it wasn't for Mooney's incident but he has been playing well in the VFL so his the obvious choice.

Ricco for Mackie please. Ricco would be good playing on the flank imo. And Byrnes before SJ and Kelly.

If we loose this week, I would let Dog J back into the team for the remainder of the season, with the teams objective of letting him kick goal of the year.

:D

In fairness to Johnno, his form post-omission earlier this season was better in that regard. In fact, he was second guessing himself at times which lead to mistakes because he was thinking of passing it off (a few mistakes against the Eagles can be attributed to that).

You guys place looks ahead of value for the team.

He is still too inconsistent, his disposal is poor, decision making at times is nothing short of shocking.

Both Steve Johnson and James Kelly are a class above Byrnes at this point in time.

Having Byrnes in the side is NOT the answer. The mistake here is to take a small side in and try and outrun them. This is admitting defeat in my books. We should play to our game plan of moving the ball quickly from the backline, long kicks into the forward line to prevent the flood. Our tall players should be able to take a few marks and our small forwards are class. Where we need to shut them down is in their pace out of the backline and that means we will need to play one on one when they have the ball and tackle them relentlessly.

Byrnes just doesnt fit into the team at present. Give me Stokes any day.

at preston city oval he was back at his crazy best, handpassing when he should have kicked it, kicked it when he should have handpassed. he didnt do anything to warrant an inclusion to senior ranks.

In Riccardi, out Tenace.

It won't happen as they've already selected the side. Mooney is the only exclusion, most likely for Playfair.

Besides, I'd rather Tenace than Riccardi. Tenace is the future, is improving, and can play for 100 minutes. Riccardi can't.

If the reports of Steve Johnson are true, the club should seriously look at trading him. He's stupid, and won't learn.

I'd take Ricco's 60-70 minutes over Tenace's 100 anytime.

Mee too, i am sick of seeing no thaught put into kicks to the forward line. If there was we would be winning by alot more.

I try not to put the whole looks thing ahead of the value for the team but I can see how you may have thought this was the case with my post. Well Hoff, to be honest I'm only really bias about Sladey thankyou very much :phahaha. In this case it's got nothing to do with Byrnesy's looks (I don't find him overly attractive hahaha) that I think he should have been included in the side this week. I genuinely thought Byrnesy deserved a spot after his resent performances in the VFL but looking at the extended interchange I must have been wrong. :( I don't agree that SJ and Kel are a class above Byrnes. All 3 have issues with poor decision making, disposals and inconsistencies BUT I don't see the difference or "class" as you put it between these 3 players. I'm happy to just agree to disagree with you Hoff. :)

Fair enough...

Been prone to do that at times.

Kelly and Sj are over Byrnes by a fair margin.
