Woooot.. What an awesome 2 days for me. It was amazingly easy to get grog in for Lorne too... We had ours very well hidden but this was what the chick said to us "We dont give a ******** if you have booze, but do you have any booze in glass bottles? We can give you plastic bottles to pour it in, we just dont want glass" Of course we said no and drove on.
The lines to get in and out were fairly ******** but oh well suppose more time u can hang with ur mates.
I didnt really go to the stages during the afternoon for either day which was abit dissapointing upon reflection.
My Rankings for the weekend
1. Michael Franti. I like him but wasnt even in my top 5 favourite artists coming into falls. He certainly has been bumped up a bit now though. Has amazing presence, absolutely psyches the crowd up beyond belief. Loved every second of the act.
2. Wolfmother. I love there music, which is why i put them so high, plus it was NYE which made it better too. Singing Teenage Wasteland with You Am I was amazing though. I think by themselves they lack a bit of stage presence. They are lucky that everyone knows who they are, so the crowd really psyches themselves up.
3. Vasco Era. I liked these guys coming into falls but damn they were amazing live. Most of the crowd barely knew who they were and they still loved em. Great set.
Honorable mentions go to You Am I, John Butler Trio and The Bees. I also quite enjoyed Scribes post new years set. The 'House party' on stage was awesome.
For me i was a bit dissapointed with Modest Mouse. I love there music but there set was a bit boring for me.
Well I just got home and what a fantastic 3 days ive had.
Rocked up at about 11 on Friday, got an ideal camp site in between the two stages.
The weather was superb, not too hot, no rain, although I did get sun burnt on Friday.
I spent alot of my time at the camp site, playing cards and downing beer bongs, but of the bands I saw Wolfmother, JBT, Hilltop and Eskimo Joe were the obvious stand outs, however I have to say that Michael Franti was my favourite. I have to admit that I dont know much about Franti and was a bit unsure about him having the New Years stint, but this guy is unbelievably ********en awesome. Great sounds, great vibes, great crowed participation, sensational way to bring in the new year.
On a side note, how easy was it to bring alcohol in? A mate of mine brought 5cartons in. Although I beleived I hid my alcohol well, I was dismayed to find a bottle of Jim Beam just sitting out in the wide open spaces of the back seat for all to see. The chick didnt even check. Too easy. Pure scare tactics by the Falls Organisers I say.
Anyway enough of my carrying on, to sum up, it was a bloody good time. I now need to go have a shower and change my underpants haha.
I got in around the same time Friday, perfect camping spot hey?
Highlights for me were Hoods and the Mother, big lowlight was the short Eskimo Joe set, and the wind haha
JBT was awesome as usual.
I dont know how he was in Lorne, but the lead singer from the Bees had lost his voice, so it was a bit weak, but the rendition of Chicken Payback was still awesome.
Scribe was an interesting one. I love his music, but there was something missing about his performance for me. Maybe just because he was the only one on stage, needed someone to rap with. However, his rendition of 2 Pac's California, some Snoop/Dre songs, plus his own Not Many and Stop the Music got the crowed pumping. Another positive about Scribe was his crowed participation he really got the crowed involved with him, either by singing his songs, or doing chants etc.

Also Eskimo Joe wins the massive posers award for having huge posters that were close up drawings of their faces hanging down on the stage, and for wearing trenchcoats and keeking up this rediculous charade of pretending they didn't do anything before a song is a city

Awesome spot.
Way better than the spot those poor buggers had down woop woop about 50km from the main stage. Haha and sucked in to those guys camped on that dirty great hill I bet they had a great sleep.
Oh how about the ass and tittes? Some fine lookin ladies there.

I was at the top of the dirty great hill. Glad I wasnt on the slope. That said I like being out of the way much better and was happy to be closer to the beach than last year.
And you're there for music, not T&A remember?
Although seems you werent there for that.
I enjoyed Franti, the Mountain Goats, Saul Williams, Little Birdy, Sleepys and most of all Modest Mouse, ********ing awesome.
Wolfmother were the same as last year so I was a tad bored at times but the Led Zeppilin cover was hawwwt.

2 Years ago I was camped at the main gate, which was a good 10 minute walk to the main stage. But being 3 cars from the Main Stage, shortest of walks, its all good![]()
See you next year (although I am rostered on for 29th 30th December 2007, damn year long rosters!)

Haha geez I get the feeling you are goin to fall sick around the 28th of December, and simply wont be able to work.![]()
Think it would be weird should I put in for holidays now?
