Regardless of result, I reckon this experiment will be an extraordinary story like stynes. Just improving at a rate of knots last twelve months, and just seems to think he belongs now. Could be a gun. Kudos Carlton

A lot of good from O'hAilpin today but stuffed it up more than his fair share. Expected I guess, given it's the first time he's really been given a real shot at it.

Must be told to go back and not play on when he gets the ball as he just panics and doesn't know what to do with it. He's a decent enough kick when he's settled but was rattled in the second half today.

He is a bit rough...

Nah I love him, he doesn't always get it right but its always going to be 100%

The emotion he shows is genuine. The anger after he misses and the fire like rage of a bull when he gets them. The look of his face after his first goal was scary!

GO SETANTA!

BTW, why doesn't mediumsizered close this thread and direct to the gameday thread like he/she has done with the threads about Ratten?

Because the threads about Ratts would have been started by the stupid ********s who just want to bag the guy out.

This is talking about the performance of a single player and how he is going.

O'Hailpin performed well = positive thread

Ratten performed poorly = negative thread

Suck it up and stop being pathetic.

He did some great things, he did some poor things. The obvious kicks were bad but there were a few sitters that he dropped. Still, you don't kick four goals scratching your arse.

Gotta love the Mad Irishman. He goes at it 100% and his passion is infectious.
At least you know what you are going to get week in and week out. I still cringe when he gets the ball sometimes but I will take what he offers as I know it is the best he has.
Glad we have been patient with the big fellow. He is all heart and exactly the type of player I love to watch.

Turning out to be a serviceable to good player, but the comparision to Jimmy Stynes is a joke. One is a 250+ game Brownlow medal winning heart and soul of a club, the other is an ordinary battler who will be lucky to reach 100 games.

He serves a purpose right now, but highly doubt he will part of the Blues next flag.

Last time I checked, nobody was comparing him to Stynes. :thumbsu:

Good return from irish tonight, but was a little sloppy at times when the pressure was off.He seems to perform better when under the pump only time will tell, but i think we will see some 6-8 goal games this year from him so alot to look forward to.
Love his passion when he goaled, fist pumps and general self revveing.
I love his and our belief,he will return the favour:p

Ratts didnt do poorly. The players ****ed up by trying to rush things.

However, we rarely see heziberekit starting up threads bagging players. We constantly see him starting threads bagging Ratts.

The big fella made errors, sure, but his commitment and contribution to present to the kicker or to bring the ball to ground off the many mis-kicks he had to contend with was simply incredible. Yes he dropped marks, and missed easy kicks but it WILL click soon enough and he'll have a day out.

Good signs from Setanta, needs to work on his fitness.

Too many times he ambles up to opposition when they mark.

Frontal pressure is vital, takes away time & space from the kicker.

played well, showed heart and passion, but shouldnt play on and gets a rush off blood to his head! he's a target and 7 goals from 2 games is pretty damm good from him let alone anyone starved of opportunity! dropped some easymarks but a1 for trying!

To borrow a line from Walter in the big lebowski... I said he could be a success story like stynes..AM I WRONG! He's improving rapidly...AM I WRONG? He could be a gun?...AM I WRONG? But of course you were one of the few who picked stynes would be a gun after 50 games if that. .... I bet you're an essendon suporter.

Sometimes!:)

I will accept his 'bad' games because it won't be for lack of effort.
Yep, that's it. He gives it a red hot crack every week.
