O'Keefe vs Sidebottom / others

For me it is a simple question would I prefer a kid that kicked 10 in the TAC Cup Grand final and had 34 possessions or a 27 year old HFF.

Personally I would hate to see us in 3 years time with O'Keefe and Fev both 30 and closing in on retirement with no young star fwd coming through.

Guys I want us to build a 7 + year dynasty and as such I think guys older than 25 are off the agenda unless we can get them for a second or 3rd round pick.

Pick 6 must go to a young gun whoever that is or an established 25 year old or younger star such as D Kerr.

I think O'Keefe is a star but his price of pick 6 is to high for a guy with maybe only 2 years left

Without forgetting how woeful Carlton's past use of first round picks (lower than #1 or #2) has been, there's every chance that the kid we grab with pick 6 will be a BETTER PLAYER than O'Keefe. On top of that, the kid will more than likely play 150-odd games for us, as opposed to the maybe 80 games we'd get out of O'Keefe.

There is no way in hell that our blokes will trade 6 for O'Keefe. I doubt we'd even downgrade it to 8.

What is your obsession with Hurley? Have you really seen this bloke play or are you basing your decision on the pre-season hype around this kid? Do you think he would be a better pick up then Ziebell/Sidebottom? If so, why?

I was a Hurley man, but the prospect of Ziebell has really grown on me. Is he a chance of going earlier than pick 6 though?

We need another prospective number one ruckman more than O'Keefe who is a gun, but isn't going to be part of our next premiership side when he turns 28 next year. The club and Judd have said we're only interested in players who can play for another five years.

That rules out O'Keefe.

Warnock is only 21 and will peak when we're ready to win the big one in three years.

Warnock, Hampson and Kreuzer will decide how far we'll go as a club more than O'Keefe who is too old.

All three could be in our best 22 if Kreuzer can develop into a forward, but we need ruck depth to challenge the top sides deep into September.

One might fall over with an injury or be out of form come finals time.
