I
Got to go in to bat for Godsy champion bloke and the huge exodus has got nothing to do with him being coach
my opinion wasn't on whether he was a good bloke it was to do with his coaching .. n I think ya find if things had of happened differently at the end of last year those players would still be at doon.. Bonniedoon signed him up after winning 17 games last year based on pure talent no game plan no structure and as they were challenged had plan b ... plan b was put himself ( Godsy ) where the problem was ... didn't work strait sets ..

Why else would they all leave? Iv seen the clearances hard to believe they have all left for a better pay packet. For a team that finished on top they copped 2 ten goal floggings to the grand finalists the talent seemed to be there they just needed a decent coach

Godsy is a very good coach who puts in a brilliant effort to make everyone feel welcome and bring a whole club together; including netballers, supporters and committee.

He is one of the best plsyers i have seen play and is coaching in a very diificult situation where most players are long range travellers. (Not to say other clubs dont have similar challenges)

He has strong values and integrity and any club would be lucky to have him. It is no accident that success follows wherever he goes.

Player yes freak of nature .. but coach I don't think so . Coaching is a very tough gig agree again. glenrowan we're ready for doon in the 1st final doon had no answers and again the week later against tarra you get judged on your losses not on your wins . n I see you write success follows him is that individual or team success ???

Glenrowan have been a very dominating team just as Miliwa were before them. I think Doon punch very well above their weight for where they are geographically located.
As for Godsy both. 2 senior premierships in his career, in best for 3 VCFL champs, 8 finals series in his last 9 seasons, OK League medalist, KD disqualified League medalist. I think that qualifies him as both team and person success. Coaching 3 seasons grand finalist, Prelim and Elim.
You can only coach the cattle you have.

Good story in the Chronicle about Hugh Amery. I have a question about points - how do points work for someone like Amery who has an obvious connection with the club, verses a player from somewhere like Bright who plays juniors and then seniors (and chuck into the mix a few years playing for Myrtleford in the O&M)?

I am not sure how they work these sorts of things Slim. But with league medals and senior games, i would expect Hugh to be around the four point mark. But could be a one-pointer if discounted due to his relationship with the club.

so how come the rest are leaving ???

McMillans and Collis definitely because of what went on last year, Walker because he is attached at the hip to Collo, Galea has a new job that requires most Saturdays so he retired and Irons because didnt want o make the trek from Kilmore so took up a playing assistant role 5 minutes from home. Not sure about the others.

Ahhhhh hahahaha so pretty much a recoil to what happened at the end of last year ... Colliss stays then the rest would do the same ... he was the 1 that brought all of them to the club

I heard he was moving away to play up near a lady he was dating but last i heard they were no more so could be staying put but not 100% on that.
Big loss to add to the pile if he is off.

Gotta understand mates that want to play with mates, both positives and negatives for bringing close groups into a club all at once. Too many personalities to satisfy. This is the result.

Collo, Walker and McMillans would of left because of that. Galea purely retired due to having a good job and having to work Saturdays and Irons wouldnt of stayed because of the travel and got the opportunity to coach.. Irons and Galea leaving is nothing to do with Collis going. You can see who Doon is dirty on by the clearance page, some cleared others not.

I may be wrong but shouldnt Cook be 1 point by now? Also J. Amery played his first season of thirds at the kennel so should also be 1. I may be wrong though

Cook was a 4 pointer to start with. So with two seasons under his belt brings him down to two.

From what I am told you have to play 40 under age games at a club to qualify as a home player. If you don't play the 40 games it then goes to your first 40 games of open age footy.

So Jack Amery and Lachie Raven both played a year of thirds footy at Tarra. But because they didn't play enough games their home clubs are magpies and rovers.

Not many kids could say that they have played over 40 thirds games at one club.

Bright on the other hand have under 14's and 16's. (Which I think is great and well done to them). So even though a kid might not play thirds at bright they can still qualify as a home player even if they come back from myrtleford in the ovens and Murray.

So what is the point of having thirds in the O&K and allowing those kids to develop and play at a higher level then not be able to come back to where they started their footy without penalty?

Colliss sooked up because his brother was dropped for finals! If he wasn't preforming then simply your not in the best 21!

Believe matt swindless has had a knee reconstruction not sure what his brother is doing!

How'd there best 21 go ???

I heard Swindells faked the knee just to get the desperate phone calls to stop.. said it was easier then changing his number.
Are they actually going to field a side?
Herbert was the only midfielder left and if he walks they seem to be in some serious trouble.
He can get better money playing close to home if doon aren't going to contend I can't see any reason for him to stay.
