FMD a marathon decided by thousands of a second. Never seen that before or 3 coming into the stadium side by side. Amazing.

Shades of 10,000m in Sydney where the winning margin is smaller than the 100m margin.

Oh dear Bruce. Sounding like Brando in The Godfather.
He's pulled out mid way thru the steeplechase heats. Has to save his voice for night finals and Wednesday night in particular when Gout runs the 200m heats, There are no morning sessions between Tuesday and Friday morning so that should help him get thru the meet.

David Basheer would have to be one of the worst commentators ever. He was terrible at soccer and just as useless in athletics.
Mm
Missing Dave Colbert. Basheer has a very monotonous tone sadly.

Can hardly wait for Wednesday nite but thilled to read about the 400m qualifier.
Would love to see proper coverage of pole vault and high jump.
Long jump will be dribs and drabs as well tonite I guess.

Dave is on Ch 9's coverage, supposedly in Tokyo, but whenever I've watched 9's coverage, I haven't heard him. Guess I should tune in when the men's long jump qualification is on tonight or the start of 9's nightly coverage and see if they cross to him.

I guess 9' coverage, wouldn't be different pictures wise?

Fundamentally no, but sometimes they do linger longer on field events, and taking ad breaks at different times, means you do see a bit different coverage.

My gogglebox moment from last nights 10k

Bruce calling the last 100m ''Gressier from France Gressier from France GRESSIER FROM FRANCE '' - ' where did he come from'

France Bruce

Bruce's voice has obviously blown a gasket. I haven't watched every single minute since tonight's coverage started with a replay of some of last night's event but I haven't Tamsyn or Basheer mention why he isn't on the coverage tonight.

myblueroan I watched the first 10-15 minutes of 9's coverage and they crossed to Dave Colbert at the stadium. hopefully he is calling some of the long jump. At the moment its Brenton Speed and Nina Kennedy.

Decent first jump by Liam Adcock with a 7.90m. 8.15m is an auto qualifier for the final.

Always annoys me the short shrift the field events get compared to track. They'll show replays upon replays of track heats, but only selected highlights of the field event finals.

We have to take scraps at this stage.

Saw a magnificent pole vault from the Swedish chef champ.
saw Marchall's folks interviewed by DC.

A lot of ads on Gem. Flicking back and forth a bit.

Don't watch Nine on principle. I usually feel in need of a shower any time I do.

At post #2,021 I quoted from a TV Black Box article that said

"Channel 9HD and 9GemHD is the place to be for the action each night, with finals of selected field events will be available to stream in full on 9Now."

I have checked tonight and Saturday night for the Shot Put final and nothing live.

I didn't check if they have a full replay on a field event on 9Now, but that is sort of pointless, you want it live.

Adcock and Mitrevski have to pull their finger out to make the finals.

After 2 completed rounds in both Group A and B, with 1 jump left;
Adcock 15th with 7.90
Mitrevski 18th with 7,83.

If they both pull out close to their best in the low 8.30's they auto qualify which is 8.15. If they jump 8.05-8.10 they both will get thru.

Adcock jumps 7.94 and goes into 12th place and final qualifying spot. But there are 17 more jumpers to take their 3rd and final attempt and most sit below Adcock.

Mitrevski gets a no jump with his 3rd attempt so misses the final.

4 have cleared 5.85 and Marshall is equal 1st with Duplantis and Kendricks.

4 have failed at 5.85.

2 more to attempt it including Karalis.

if things go according to form its Marshall vs Kendricks for the bronze. But I hope Kurtis pulls out a PB and cracks 6.00m

Next height is 5.90 but Duplantis has already told the officials he will jump next at 5.95.

Bummer Adcock is now 14th with 3 more to jump in the 2 groups.

He was in outstanding form between March and early July regularly jumping between 8.05 and 8.34. His form has fallen off somewhat since early July.

Wow Vloon of Netherlands scissor kicks around the bar and clears 5.90. Never seen that before in the pole vault.

Well done Kurtis on clearing 5.90. Lol posted that in a footy thread on the Port board.
