I remember watching Jess running 4 or 5 years ago in big meets and getting 8ths and 9ths and thinking she works her arse off but will never get to catch the African runners form Kenya and Ethiopia.

How things have changed.

This high jump final is as gripping as the pole vault last night.

The spectators who stay to the end get to watch 1 event with out track events interfering with the rhythm of the event.

Kerr in gold medal position.

Olympic champ Hamish Kerr becomes World Champ with an equal PB jump of 2.36, plus some clutch 3rd attempts.

How ridiculous that there's a British flag in our and the NZ flag. Embarrassing.
Yeah it should be changed. At least NZ PM John Key had the guts to hold a referendum to change it in 2016.

Start the race ffs!😛
So excited.

No female pole vaulters to represent atm?

I I'd prefer Nina Kennedy back on the field and away from microphones.

Bruce's voice is almost 100%, can hear a little growl. Obviously rested up for Gout's races and for the other better Oz medal chances.

As much as we were invested in Jess' run last night and know that Kipyegon is the GOAT, what I missed that Faith's winning time of 3:52.15 is the 19th fastest time ever, her 9th fastest but her 2nd fastest time to win her 7 global 1500m gold medals (3 in a row Olympics and 4 world champs + 3 silvers) only behind her 3.51.29 in Paris last year.

You don't always get fast times in 800-5000m races at global meets as winning is more important than a fast time and there are no pacemakers like in Diamond League and Continental Tour Gold meets, but Jess had decided in both last night's race and in Paris that she was going to challenge Kipyegon not just run for 2nd, and only worry about winning the gold.

You have to respect Jess' attitude to run without fear and not worry about protecting the silver. She almost lost the silver in Paris as she went after Kipyegon and Brit Georgia Bell saw her dying and charged and was 0.05 from catching her.

You could see the 3 Kenyan women after the race congratulate her that she has their respect.

On a side note loving the graphics used on SBS. Don't know what others have but the best throw graphic and even the q mark following the distance runners
