Should Freo use Pick 7 to get O'Meara to West?

He is a 22yr old WA product who hasn't played 2 years - falls into Harley Bennell basket for mine - big risk but high reward if he gets fit and over knee injuries...

I know he has stated wanted to move to Vic - Mitch Clarke said he wanted to come to Perth then back flipped

I reckon if GC play hard ball we should use pick 7 in ND to bring him to us - should we make a play now or just wait till ND to swoop?

Thoughts?

He has a property and business interests in Melbourne. We'd have him for the two years of his contract, and he'd be straight out the door. We'd be lucky to get 15 games out of him given his injuries.

The other option to to bring in an 18 year old potential 200+ gamer.

It's a no-brainer.

If he went to the draft he would nominate his years and total cash, a club can distribute it however they like. I would draft him and have all the money in the last two years - then when he walks out after a year or two it cost us $300,000.

I just can't get Jack's game against us this year at Subi out of my mind. He went full beast mode and having two similar players like Bennell and Martin would be ridiculous.
 
Hawks have been told to stick their lowball offer so it will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

We should stay well away as it's going to probably get spiteful as all parties dig their heels in. Not much good can come from us getting involved inless JOM says he is happy to be a Docker.

Hawks going to look pretty stupid if this all turns to shite and he ends up at another Melbourne club.

No Melbourne club have a pick between 6 and 10.

We have 7, Port has 9, GC has 4,6,8, Carlton unlikely at pick 5. (Actually I think Brisbane has pick 9 nine, I could be wrong)

I would say it is us, or he slides to Pick 10 at Hawks.
