This may be wishful thinking but we could be just one good win from turning things around.

One good win is a gutsy come from behind win that would give the players the confidence that they can do it.At the moment their confidence is shattered. If they are behind at 3/4 time we generally don't win.
The last come from behind win I can remember is with Frawley as coach beating Hawthorn when we trailed by heaps at 1/2 time back in 2003.

You get a win like that your self belief increases and you get on a roll. You start to win the close ones and luck goes your way.

I like every other supporter is shattered by the first 3 weeks.Get on a roll Tiges and .....DO SOMETHING:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

That won't make the various chronic deficiencies in our players magically disappear so you might as well go with the sentiments of your first 5 words.

If you drop the 2 or 3 culprits you'll remove the majority of turnovers from the team on game day. We know who they are. As I say, 1 weak link in defence can cause everything to collapse. The same goes for the forward line and midfield

I know there are deficiencies, but they do not have any self belief or confidence either. With confidence up, their skills and decision making would improve. At the moment they are not taking the game on because of the fear of making mistakes and lack of confidence.

Agree. I am so ****ing sick of wanting to shut my eyes whenever we have to rely on King to hit a target coming out of defensive 50. We need to cut the dead weight, we all know who they are. Can't wait until our C-force comes back. Add Connors and Collins in for good measure too.

I will get a little bit of confidence back if we can win by minimum 8 goals this week against Melbourne, if we struggle against Melbourne and cant finish them off nice and early then we are going to be in for a very long year.

Firstly.. why the **** are The Tigers the club who more often than not are in a position to "have to turn things around"?

Sick of that... let's get off to a good start for once so that we don't have to turn things around all of the time.

Despite that, you may be right....... but only if that one good win comes around mid season after we have won say 6 of our next 8 or so... and I fear that won't happen with our current levels of non-confidence and anxiety & lack of conviction.

We are masters at digging ourselves a big deep hole, climbing 3/4 of the way into it and then trying to rally around to get back out again!

Stop it!!!!

The players are confused by the game plan. The coach has lost the players confidence. The players have no confidence in each other.
A win this week is only putting masking tape over our wounds, only to be ripped off again when it will hurt twice as much.

why do you think that, do you know how the gameplan works?

Watching them run around in circles. Watching them employ the self-preservation mode that players do when their club is in meltdown by kicking backwards and refusing to take a risk further upfield. Watching players walk around on the field like they haven't got a clue what they are doing.
Call it an educated (hell, call it uneducated if you prefer) guess coke-zero, but I'm tipping whatever message the coach is trying to get through, is not getting through.
Surely you can see that with your own eyes rather than having to ask me?

not having a shot, but you didnt explain how it worked. but agree we need to scrap it. we have 2-3 extra players in the backline when we have the zone, then when we get the ball we either have to hold it up and wait for players to run forward or run forward and kick it to a 1-3 contest.

Melbourne will have to make a lot more skill errors than us for us to win. I don't know if that is possible after last weeks effort against the Dogs.

and yet we beat Freo by 13 goals over there last season doing the exact opposite. - backing ourselves the move the ball quickly without 'thinking' about it too much and not allowing ourselves any time to think about what may go wrong. The younger players need to be let off their leash. They are being stifled by the selfishness of the older players and by the coach.

2 or 3? Practically half our list are poor kicks of the footy, and the rest are average kicks. Only a handful of elite kicks.

Just a random observation, and happy to discuss further.
We seem to be trying to pinpoint kicks to a stationary target in the middle of the typical swarming zone defence.

Couple of solutions:

The receiver arrives in motion, if the kick is a little off then he can move and adjust.

This is helped if the kicker gets the kick away sooner. A bit like gridiron, the ball has to arrive at the same time as the receiver.

The kicker leads a stationary target by putting the ball to advantage and not just to where he is standing. Plonk it over a defenders head and let him get crunched in necessary. A kick to a stationary target allows the defender a run at the receiver and he will inevitably spoil or intercept.

Receiver holds the lead, treads water if necessary.
Kicker looks up earlier.
Basic stuff.

For this board to implode like it has im guessing most of you expected to beat carlton smash the cats than steamroll the dogs, i had us at 0-3 to start the year and still had us making finals. We have played 3 sides that are expected to play finals 2 of them are better than us.

Melb
North
Sydney
Bris
Port
Essendon
Freo
Dogs
Eagles
Saints
Crows
Blues

Pies

There is 11 games we have at least 50-50 chance of winning if we can get some confidence into our team and not implode there is others that are certaintly winable, ive watched alot of sydney this year they dont seem to be the side they once were we have them twice, the saints i still dont believe are as good as people usually think in april, Pies are up and down but a good side, Crows at gold coast is tough but not a certainty, and port over there i nearlly had as a 50-50 but i still rate them as a good side despite 2 weeks ago but definately gonna be winable, its an even field this year more than most others nearlly anyone is beatable on there day.

With Coughlan Cousins Cotchin Raines Patto Thursfield Hughes Connors Collins Vickery Rotating through the senior side in the next 6 weeks or so things arent as bad as they appear i would say 6 of them are in our best 22 when fit and the others will add depth and competition for spots.
