Know a few blokes Jake King

On sight you think here we go, this bloke is trouble, then they open their mouth to talk and it just gets worse

But you can't fault him, got the most out his footy career and if you were a friend of his he would give you the shirt on his back if you were in need.

Very loyal and honest person

while he is only limited VFL experience (33 games), and has probably told his story in other outlets a number of times, fred cook would probably be more interesting than king.

I'm sure as contemporaries Mike would be well versed on Fred, but he is too drug-addled to be sensible. Fred did a number of interviews when Paul Amy's book came out and in each he basically needed a 'minder' to ensure he remained coherent.

I enjoyed it, but it probably did lack a bit of footy talk. I'm not sure it was Mike's most well researched interview to be honest. Surprised nothing re: Terry Wallace was mentioned either.

iirc wasn't Jake King one of the guys who lead the "player rebellion" against Wallace - in-spite of not even being in the team at that point?

He represented the twos players from memory. But the whole thing was way overplayed and King was furious with the way he was presented in the media.

i distinctly remember a footy classified episode where Caroline Wilson absolutely tee'd off on him. Was quite funny. Pretty sure Kingy has nursed a grudge against her ever since.

Ridiculous post. The show is about diving deeper into the character of its guests and regularly looks at more than just what we've already seen on field.

Jake King's journey to the AFL is a great story and a lot different to the cookie cutter rise through junior ranks.

Looking forward to it.

Watched the show and my opinion hasn't changed at all. Who's next? Jason Wild? Clinton King? Mark Bolton?

I went in to the Jake King episode with very low expectations - largely because I thought the interviewee was a grub.

But I have to say, I warmed to him. The Toby Mitchell friendship grates, but from a footy perspective he's the sort of charismatic, tough fella who makes footy clubs tick along.

Good on him for making some big sacrifices to come into the AFL. And a big F.U. to Mike, whose plumber jibe ("plumbers are the richest blokes in society these days") is cheap coming from someone who earned very good money for a long time simply being a football writer and broadcaster. I know who adds more to society.

Terry Wallace tomorrow.

Shall we take bets on how quickly he asks about recruiting Ben Cousins and how long that topic is talked about.
And what are the current odds he doesn't even get a mention about his actual playing career?

Such an easy guest to land.

How about getting someone who we haven't heard much from in a few years
Me me me from big Tezza.

To bad he couldn't coach.

What about Billy Picken, David McKay or Peter Russo or someone older than them in the form of Neville Crowe?

I don't know about you blokes, but I'm absolutely sort of looking forward to sort of sitting back and sort of locking and loading for sort of around half an hour and absolutely just sort of hearing where Terry Wallace is at and just sort of hearing 'Plough' come absolutely locked and loaded with some stories and just sorting of sitting back and enjoying what should absolutely be sort of an interesting interview.
