Or maybe having Dane Swan on in between Boyd and Lake is a subtle pointing towards how a work life balance can improve your mental health. Swans happy and healthy in his life and maybe more AFL footballers should be allowed to enjoy the experience

Lake didn't really go into it but briefly mentioned that when his relationship ended Cooney took the side of the females and that's how their friendship ended.
Which could be fair enough. Putting up with the rubbish Lake was dishing up would take its toll. Especially given, by his own admission, he ran away from all of his problems.

He has obviously had mental issues previously being on medication while playing at Hawthorn, he did look a broken man on the show. However what I saw from him on that episode of Open Mike was somebody feeling a lot of regret.

They gave Dane Swan an hour. I don't think his "story" had enough to warrant it. Or maybe Mike just spent too long on some really boring topics eg. the podcast.

The amount of things Swan has achieved in his career and that hack Sheehan spends 25% of the interview talking about a podcast incident which was a complete non-event. Imagine spending your entire life in journalism and dishing up that slop.

Sexual assault is a non-event?

I hope you don't have daughters.

It was a distasteful joke. You're putting a distasteful joke in the same category as actual physical and verbal assault? Give me a break.

You must be fun at parties, go virtue signal somewhere else.

Stfu. They read passages from a website, people like you ****ing sooking about everything are worse then Swan.

Had Lake already been on Open Mike a few years ago?

Why do people pretend Dane Swan is "fascinating"?

I don't think people find him fascinating necessarily. They find the fact that a guy who presents like you're average 2010s stoner drop-kick from your local footy club (looks and personality) made it big in the regimented professional world of modern AFL. He subverts people's expectations of what a current-day footballer should be, so they're interested in the how and why and what makes him tick.

There was a new episode on Wednesday night with Brian Lake? Strange scheduling and zero promotion.

They seem to be tucking them away without any advertising or a good timeslot (which has now been given to Bob). Why?

Yeah such an enigma.

Uhhhhh, I’m not a medical professional or mental health expert, but Lake doesn’t seem like a person who should be giving TV interviews just yet. Watching that bordered on voyeurism, akin to ghetto tourism.

you must be new around here - there are two things Mike absolutely loves about his role

- digging into people's soft spots, hoping for tears / breakdown
- asking about how much coin people earn.

Feel for Lake.
He's not in a good place at the moment.

Not sure of his circumstances but just imagine those out there who have been cut off from family members, have no job or barely scraping by doing some factory work of some kind, dealing with addiction and mental health issues and only have the government for support. Be a horrible place to be in.

Lake probably has contacts to fall back on (as David Schwarz had) so in time, he has the opportunity to come out of this better than your average person.

Watching someone have a tiz about an incident years in the past is once thing, watching an at risk person breakdown while recounting their suicide attempt from 3 MONTHS AGO is next level and then some.
