For the last 7 or 8 years we've seen us go forward to a congested forward line. The forwards are not standing in the right spots when the ball is coming forward. It's usually 4-6 forwards plus their oponents plus a lose opposition defender scattered around the 50m. Poor options for the players kicking into the area means the player will delay their kick and allow more players to come in a flood the area. In these situations we kick to Richo the tallest forward who we hope will take the mark only to be rebounded by the opposition who have more numbers. I've been saying for 5 years we need 2 huddles up forward. The full forward(Richo) and the 2 pockets(Lids and Brown) all standing in the goal square at all times when the ball isnt in there. While the 3 half forwards(Polak, Morton, Pettifer) have their huddle at CHF. We should have those 2 huddles formed every time we go forward from defence. Then when the time is right, the 3 half forwards can make their leads to open wings. Then next kick would allow the 3 deep forwards in the goal square to make their leads to open pockets(or 2 forwards lead and 1 player follows to crumb). The players have to get into the habit of standing together and allowing room to move and giving players upfield space to kick to. This will be mean quick movement into a forward line with 3 options with space to lead to and not much time for other players to flood the area. So much more potent than kicking to a scattered crowded forward line.
