Operation Don't Get Aish

His highlight wasn't great as loki said, butchered the ball a bit.
Plus those strapped shoulders are a little concerning, what's the go there?

How tall is Freeman? As that man with the crazy haired man O_A said in the other thread, what does he offer that we don't already have in B. Kennedy?

I thought Scharenberg looked the goods, but I'm not sure he fills our needs.

Position:Midfielder
Height:182cm
Weight:85kg
Born:16/6/95
Home club:Sandringham Dragons

He is a quicker and bigger then BK for a starters.

Aish reminds me of Steele. High footy IQ, and good skills, but just doesn't have the physique and athleticism to be particularly damaging at AFL level. IMO he will slide because he's a massive risk of not transferring his skills at AFL level due to that limitation.

And how is his style of play a need? He's not an inside mid, which we need, or a line breaker which we need. He seems like a pure link man. We already have that type with the likes of Pendles, Beams and Sidebottom. His type just isn't a good fit IMO.
Pendles and Beams are pure linkers???

Friggin hell - who have I been wotching then???:eek:o_Oo_O

Yeah, watching that Scharenberg video back, I quickly realised I'd cop flack for that comment.

So Freeman is taller, is he really as quick and agile as BK though?

Stars don't make teams, Teams make stars.
I don't really care who we draft, if they can develop in to good to very good players then that is a handful of weak or suspect players that don't get a game, evenness and consistency among the playing group is what creates a premiership team.

Got to love BigFooty. So many elitists and hindsight hero twats.

Seriously, what's the point in a comment like that? Like anyone with an differing opinion can't express it?

Super constructive.:thumbsu:

I give the rumor no credence.

The rumor mongers were always going to compare the acts of the father to those of the son. If Aish Jnr has half the loyalty of Aish senior then he will be a Pie for life.

James Aish is the nephew of Michael Aish. His father is Andrew Aish, Michael's brother. Michael was the gun, brother Andrew a 89 game player for Norwood.

Freeman ran a 2.80 20m, he also came 1st in repeat sprints and ran 15 beep test.

He is a running machine in terms of speed and endurance.

I like others better but if they aren't there and we land him I wouldn't be unhappy.

Calm down champ.

Don't take comments so seriously. It was tongue in cheek.

Kolodjashnij is probably the one that suits our needs, super athletic, superb left foot, plenty of
Run off half back.. If it was between Aish and KK, the latter is what we need more.

Ben Lennon or Nathan Freeman at 10

Hines recruiting history shows he is gun shy with the Taswegians. I doubt KK is in our thinking.

Besides the hyperbole if it was between Aish and Bontempelli, I think I'd go for the latter. Like most of us we haven't seen a stack of either but my waters leads me toward Bontempelli. I'm sure Aish will be a great player but I'd favour Bumbums.

I hope to god Bumbums becomes his official nickname here if we get him.

I will buy you a beer if it happens.

I think GC will take Koldcuts.

By definition that means one of Aish, Scharenburg, Kelly or Billings will fall to us. You can see why Hine was keen to trade into 6.

I reckon it will be Aish, Billings or Bontempelli who falls and I hope it's the latter.

HEY GUYZ IF WE PICK THIS ONE 18 YEAR OLD KID, THEN DESPITE THE REST OF THE LIST AND THE ENTIRE PIES HISTORY, IM NOT BUYING A MEMBERSHIP.

ffs.

Every year there is this mythical ranking order that gets set in stone weeks out and only varies slightly between phantom drafts. Then the closer we get to draft day, journo's catch on who the early selections are going to be and it can change completely and blow it out of the water. Sometimes, no one finds out...I certainly remember Pendlebury being "ranked" around 10-20 then Dekker went bang at 5. I smell a similar situation this year where 6 could be anybody...a kid with more potential rather than an Aish with exposed form. You draft players for who they will be when they are 25 not who they were when 17.

The good thing about this thread anyway is you can come back and say wrong/right. I've made good calls on here on some (Thorp) and bad ones too (Vlaustin).

Hindsight is such a wonderful thing but if we took Josh Kennedy that year and had Cloke and Kennedy running around in our forward line. Jesus.
