Maybe some other posters have gone over the top, I understand your passionate about GFC and thats great. But looks like the actions of one is bringing the criticism to whole of your group. Joffa is a knob and his copying is making you look unoriginal and boring. And that could be causing some of the remarks on here.

If I could offer one suggestion, how 'bout they make a banner with three permanent stripes made of plastic they can cover with lettering pictures etc. and re-use ( say blue white blue ) and the bottom white stripe be made of crepe paper the players can actually run through.

Time and money saved could go towards personal grooming, training et al.

But really, they do a great job :thumbsu:

A large percentage of them even make it to each and every VFL match! They chant from the start of the game to the end of the game, scores level, playing Melbourne or 10 goals down. If the crowd goes silent, they're the one's that get up and show the support for the players. They make the banner in their own time, hold it up for the players, and raise tens of thousands of dollars throughout the year which they donate to the club at the end of each season.

How many of you saying 'the entire cheer squad are idiots, flogs, a disgrace to the club, have no passion, chants are repetitive, etc.' can say you've done ANY of that?!

Having passion and dedication is great, but it doesn't grant you immunity from criticism.

The reason people say the chants are inane and repetitive is because the chants are inane and repetitive. Being a vocal supporter and being an unimaginative supporter are not mutually exclusive.

Always strike me as a bunch of largely harmless no-hopers. No offence intended, not a single **** given when inevitably offence is taken.
Well, if you were to call me a harmless no-hoper I don't think I'd be thrilled!

Personally, I've always found the concept of being in a cheersquad as an adult a bit odd. Spending so many hours each week hero-worshipping a group of young men because they play sport is normal as a child, but a tad odd as adults.

All other parts of the cheersquad aside...

A seat in the front row behind the goals, priority access to sold out games, as well as finals and grand final tickets, no drunken idiots to deal with, and nobody to tell you to shut up when you get excited about your side kicking a goal...

Sounds pretty good to be!

As I said... "support the club, under very strict club, AFL and sponsor regulations." This includes the chants. They can't be arrogant or offensive in any way... which pretty much rules out everything other than what we already do.
At least break out into some Ballroom Blitz, Hawk This Way, Don't Worry Be Harry or something

I'm not aware of any AFL regulation against wit.

You bastard , those tunes are now firmly in my head and will take some removing :D
Humour and creativity are a great facet of our game - still smile when I recall this chant from one of Adelaides flags :

" One Darren Jarman , there's only one Darren Jarman
One Darren Jarman.....there's only Darren Jarman "

Sung by 4 randoms each time he kicked a goal, amongst a sea of opposing fans.

Ahh, now we know your only true motivation.

It is sad to see how many people have a propensity to disparage that which they have not experienced, have not given alot of thought, and probably as a result of this do not fully understand
On the surface grown adults in a cheer squad may seem a bit creepy but there is obviously more to the eye here than is apparrent
as it is in post 12 on this thread GFCweekly makes a good argument as to why the cheer squad isn't such a bad gig
AFL Cheersquads: mostly harmless

You've got to be kidding me.

You obviously weren't paying attention when I said
Mate.
I've never met a cheer squad member who gave a shit about what anyone else thought.
And you are obviously no different.

Everyone likes the cheering.

But it's just a game.

And I can't beleive you actually like being behind the goals! Worst spot on the ground.
I actually think the cheer squad should be on ALL 4 50m boundary line arcs.
