Saw the AFL website.
Ess favourites to defeat Syd. $1.78 to $2.05.
Hannebery, Jack, McVeigh, Mills, Reid, Rohan injured.
I hope Ess wins.
I hope Saad returns. He is a good player.
Ess winning would be good for us, augmenting a top four buffer.

According to mb blues, they only suck because of injuries
& according to AFL website: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-07-25/stats-incredible-your-clubs-quirky-numbers

they would be a lot more in the poo if not getting a scoring leg-up from umpies.

Easy Free-sy
Carlton's scoring problems have been well documented this season. But they could be more severe, if not for some help from the umpires. The Blues have scored 31 per cent of their goals as a result of free kicks or 50-metre penalties – clearly the highest percentage of any side. The competition average is significantly less at just 17 per cent.

Does this mean we rush the most behinds in defence or opposition rush the most points in our forward line?

Behind blitz
The Tigers have registered the most rushed behinds of any side this season, having racked up a total of 56 points not scored directly off the boot. It's an amusing stat given the inadvertent input 265-game Tiger Joel Bowden had in the 2009 implementation of the rushed behind rule that awards a free kick for deliberately taking the ball over the line. Bowden rushed two behinds in a row in a home-and-away match in 2008 to waste time, before the Hawks rushed 11 behinds in the 2008 Grand Final.

Looks like other teams rush the most behinds on our behalf.
It would be because of the Tiger forward half pressure - swarm towards the goals - more chance of defenders being under the pump a few meters out.

Thinking further about that, we should back off the pressure within metres of goal, so the opposition is forced to kick off a step rather than get set up after a behind. I haven't really thought about that before so I'll watch it this week to see what we do in that situation.

Maybe - although as it stands now we get the behind/1 point, and then get to set up as they kick out, force another turnover and goal from there.
The ole 7 point play strategy! :thumbsu:

Lol latest Barrett article practically begging Cochrane to raid our depth.

Bolton will go west if he leaves, Anthony miles, and Lloyd would be great gets for Gold Coast however do they really need Corey Ellis and Connor Menadue who while tearing up the vfl haven’t really shown they’re afl capable?

Can someone confirm for me

Did gillon really say they will consider trialling rules changes during the season this year?

Because that doesnt harm the integrity of the competition or anything.........
He's not called "Gill the dill" because he grows daffodils.

Correct. Oppo shit themselves when it’s in our forward line

Whateley is pushing it,trial with a few clubs not in the finals race.

So Geelong’s slow plodders can pass the ball without getting tackled next year.
