I love that fools like Carey underrate our list. Long may it continue.
He's a bit of a simpleton and looks at where players were drafted. I mean if the draft was held tomorrow where would Jack Ross be selected? Sydney Stack? Draft numbers mean nothing.
As for Melbourne....
I look at Melbourne and think Viney and Brayshaw are tough midfielders with average to poor skills - they're not elite. Clayton is probably elite but even his skills are questionable - throws it well. None of them impact the scoreboard.
Then you have some reasonable defenders that have already played their best football - Lewis & Hibberd
Lever is good, May good but overrated and they're no Alex Rance or Dylan Grimes.
Gawn is a good to very good ruckman and mark but he won't win you games. He just plugs the holes in the damn wall.
There's some OK footballers in Salem, Fritsch, Jetta, Melksham, McDonald, Harmes, Kolodjashnij, Garlett
Vanilla foot soldiers Vandenberg, Hunt, Frost
Blokes who are highly rated and may be good but have shown very little in Petracca, Weideman
Blokes I don't rate at all in Preuss, Jones
And then you have a list of no names, a very long list.....
Sparrow, Hore, Petty, Wagner x 2, Smith, Neal-Bullen, O McDonald, Jordon, Kennedy Harris, Hannan, Maynard, Bedford, Spargo, Stretch, Nietschke ...... There's 16 in that list and there lies the problem.
To think that David King said pre-season that "Melbourne were unbeatable. How is anyone going to beat them" is baffling at best.
