THis is not specifically about AFL stats, but i figured that this sub forum is the best place to ask the question.

I am looking for some stats software/application that i can use to keep my own stats (local footy). I currently keep everything in excel spreadsheets and it really doesn't make it easy to extract large amounts of information or present it in a user friendly format.

If someone can point me in the right direction to something that i can get 'off the shelf' that would be great.

It is possible that you could use Footyworks to enter your local competition stats otherwise you'll have to use a database program.

I would recommend Filemaker Pro as the easiest to start with.

You can see what can be generated and produced with it here from a database of AFL scores and results: RogersResults.
(The ladders on the first page are simply screen grabs from Filemaker Pro.)

PM me if you need further help.

I cannot start a new thread and this is the closest I could find to what I want to discuss.

Does anybody know how/if clubs below AFL level record statistics from their matches?

Obviously at AFL level Champion Data produce comprehensive statistics which the clubs (and media outlets) pay for.

Whatabout clubs at at WAFL/SANFL/VFL/etc level? Do these clubs keep statistics and if so, how?

I believe ben.carbonaro keeps the stats for the Werribee Football Club. Is this a paid position or is he a volunteer?

At lower levels again, such as clubs within the EFL etc where high five figures or even six figure amounts are spent annually on player payments, do clubs keep statistics and if so, who is responsible for doing so?

I have seen one or two statistics software packages out there for Australian Rules football. One of them cost about $700 IIRC. Even if a club parts way with this kind of coin, somebody has to actually do the data entry, which is not easy or fun work. Is this software popular among clubs?

tl;dr Do local level clubs even have stats?

The WAFL uses Champion Data also.

I am a member of the stats team as there is several of us who work on different parts of the operation.

My stats work is actually still done with pen and paper, it's forward entry information which is used by the club's forward coaches at development/senior level.

We use Champion Data but have used Prowess sports in the past.

I receive a small payment each season.

Im also looking for a program that I can keep results from local leagues matches (just results not actual stats from the game like kicks, handballs etc). Then when i want to check up on the head to head stats of games between two teams for example i can just type in the two teams names and it will give me the head to head for those teams. Is there something like this out there at all?
