What did people think of the tackle that caused it? Thought it was pretty poor myself Ferrira two footed from behind and only just touched the ball if at all and not even a free kick given.
lol :p

He hardly touched him. It was fat Rooney's food tumble that did it all.

Did you see the tackle that Rooney did on Drogba all of ten minutes earlier that was 5x worse?

but you're still talking about a team of massive underachievers, who lack heart, play with no width, and lack imagination.

besides only 3 or 4 of the above have been in decent form.
Sol can't make the first XI
A cole hasn't played in 6 months
Lampard has been awful the last 3 months or so
Beckham insists on drifting too far inside, instead of offering service from wide right. plus he's not a big game player.
Gary Neville is a water carrier
Owen hasn't played regularly in how long?

which leaves Terry, Gerrard, J Cole & Rooney. and one of those probably won't play.

England, lots of talent, but flatter to deceive. they just don't produce.

and then you have a manager whose emperor's new clothes act is wearing thin. he's a statue come match day.

Yeah the point was if all fit (and further to that, in form) - thus Owen, Rooney and Ash aren't factors.

Agree totally regarding the width and team balance, that's been England's achilles heel since John Barnes left the setup.

If only Giggsy's dad wasn't a pr#ck and/or H had plumped the other way eh? :D

Giggsy - England schoolboys captain = huge loss to England over the last 10-15 years. He could have made a huge difference as we have been stuck with the ilk of Mcbananaman on the left in that time.

I have symapathy for England, but not for Rooney, his injury is proof that what goes around comes around. He should have been sent off in the 1st half for his challenge on John Terry. I'm not sure it'll have as drastic effect on England as some are saying, I know I am biased but I can see Chelsea players carrying the team now.

As an AFL football board are we going to get into the world cup? Or in general are most going to give it just a passing gaze.

Personally I cannot wait until next week until the Socceroos play Greece at the MCG and then it’s only a matter of a few weeks until it gets underway.

I think England were a good chance. In all honesty Rooney has star quality in the mould of Ronaldinho, Henry, Totti etc. Theres things he can do that just change a game. England still have a very very dependable midfield and back four + Goalkeeper. They will however be quite toothless in attack. Rooney wont be right and Owen will be underdone. Its a shame as i was looking forward to seeing him on the big stage...

Youd say the 4 strikers to go would be Owen, Defoe, Crouch and one of harewood or ashton ??

IMO - Brazil will be unstoppable - hows this for a first XI (how they will line up IMO)
-------------Dida---------------
---Cafu Juan Lucio R Carlos------
-----------Emerson------------
Kaka ----Ronaldinho---Ze Roberto
-------Adriano--- Ronaldo------

Ridiculous when u look at it - plus in their squad theyl still have
Juninho Pernambucano
Robinho
Gilberto Silva
Edu
Alex
Julio Baptista
Cicinho
Ricardo Oliviera
Roque Junior
Edmilson
Ricardinho

Odds on - in my opinion!!

Very biased and very idiotic. You hardly have any Poms in your team!

I am a WC junkie that literally doesn't miss a game for the entire tournament. If its televised, I will watch it live.

Back when the 1994 WC was on, my day consisted of going to school, getting home, having a bite to eat, watch soccer highlights on SBS and go to bed. Get up at around 12:30am watch the first game, then watch the second game, get into my uniform and catch a bust to school. Thats pretty much what was happening for the whole month. I was HUGE fan of Gheorge Hagi back then. That bloke was a freak.

yeh hes playin in Greece for Olympiakos - any other nation hed still get a game but Brazil - my word they have some special players...

Watch out for a fella called Messi for Argentina tho - my tip to shine at the WC !!! ok - back to soccer board - sorry lads and ladies

No one will come close to them.

i think thats a very bad call, in soccer all it takes is one or two defensive errors or a split lapse in concentration and you'be lost the game.. brazils weakness is their defence and go by the method of 'we dont mind if you score, cos we will score more'.. or in other words furiously attacking, therefore catch a couple of their strikers on a bad day and there are a number of teams who could knock them off.. sure there best player earns more in a week than the average a-league player makes in 10 years but they are far from invincible
