Reading the Richmond board and I just…have they forgotten their last flag was literally 2 seasons ago?

A third in 4 years?

Reading that board you’d think they hadn’t won a final in 64 years lol

Don’t get me wrong, Richmond are kinda screwed for a long long time now (They traded their future for Hopper and Taranto and Dimma is about to pull a Leigh Matthews), but they just came off 3 flags.

Could be worse

But yeah, over the next 2 seasons Richmond are going to lose:

  • Reiwoldt
  • Cotchin
  • Martin
  • Hardwick
  • Gale
  • Grimes
  • Tarrant

and they’re not bringing much in so they’re in for some pain for quite some time from 2024 onward

Lynch is 31 this year as well. But like you said, they’ve won 3 recent flags. Swings and roundabouts

They’re done. We can ignore them for the next 30 years.

Ok didn’t realise Lynch was that old

So Richmond are screwed screwed from 2025 onwards lol

Shouldn’t have the rule in the first place.

But if they’re going to have it, and it affect the result in this way, they should at least have a sign board next to the bench showing the interchange count so everybody has visibility of what’s going on.
If it was the bombers playing this game they would have held a "go all in sign" after that syd free and goal.

They do only seem to give warnings for the 6-6-6 rule..which is a bit strange. How long does a rule have to be in place before they enforce it? Was it the 6-6-6 rule we got 1, maybe 2 frees paid against us in the Lions game?
They give one warning and then next time it's a free.

They give one warning and then next time it's a free.

That’s basically the procedure now.

They get warned when they have 10, 5 and one remaining. Problem is they did a double change when on 74.
So north missed out on their final warning but would have had the 10 and 5 …..the interchange staffer has got one job….and ten fingers.

The thing with teams that have big forwards is that when one or both are out they dont have a settled Plan B, Pies with no star big men have used other means for years, so if we lose a forward to an injury we are in a better position to replace that person with another similar or close to type.

Another thing:

The C9 footy show this morning poured accolades on Buddy for his defensive efforts yesterday, how FN bias can you be to a player - a bunch of us yesterday were all commenting how slow, fumbles a lot and finished he looks and its a shame he went on for another year!

Bizarre how the commentators say 'put your hand over someone's shoulder and that's a free every day of the week'...except Sunday afternoons apparently..and when you wear a black & white jumper and your name is Jack..or Bobby..or Johnny..

There's been at least 3-4 'high' tackles paid so far this weekend with players driving low to avoid the tackle. I guarantee that if the same thing happens to Ginny or Bobby today, there is no chance of getting paid.

Definitely. It's North's own fault. Still a question as to whether the penalty is fair.

I only learned the penalty today and haven't given it much thought. Seems weird that this isn't up to the officials to police rather than the club.

So instead of potential match changing penalties, we just have an official telling anyone trying to come off, sorry you can't no interchanges left. No penalty needed. What we have now is like leaving clubs in charge of the game clock, deciding when the quarter is over and being penalised when they get it wrong.

It's North's **** up and noone else to blame. It's not hard to count to 75. When Shiels ran off they should have turned him around and said bad luck.

Non-discriminatory hiring of interchange official..

A couple of problems with what happened …

- A free kick and a 50m was given to decide the game and nobody at the ground had any idea why. Even one of the coaches surrounded by his army of analysts had NFI. That predicament really shouldn’t happen in a game of football. And that’s not North’s fault.

- Nobody wants a footy result decided that way - not the punters, the advertisers, the players, the clubs, nobody.

Except Sydney.

The rule itself is a disgrace. How can the AFL possibly want a rule like that to gift a team a win. Would they be happy for a GF to be decided like that.
It is not fair in any sense of the word and it's about time the AFL woke up to itself. FFS, our game is fast becoming a laughing stock.
Fair to say someone getting an arsekicking.
Surely there is somebody watching the count and says only one more rotation left?!?
