Now that the Carey deal has been sewn up, what other players will we be looking to pick up? And with Johnson and our first two draft picks gone, what trade bait do we have?

I suspect things will be fairly quiet for Adelaide for the rest of the weekend.

Nope, I think that's it for us ... unless Essendon or Hawthorn can't get Brogan, in which case Ben Marsh may be worth something.

Matthew Nicks was mentioned this morning in The Age as wanting to come home, but I don't know what we've got that Sydney may want. Unless they want Fitzy back ....

I think they'll try and secure a higher draft pick. Laurence Angwin and Ben Marsh could still be trade bait at this stage.

Actually, not really bait, but I'm sure we'll try and get something for them before we delist them in a few weeks time.

What ever we get for Angwin will be a bonus, if we have no 3rd ruckman in the wings well as much as i hate to say it keep Marsh

Actually, you might be right.

On another note, is it worth trading the likes of Hewitt and Perrie? Can't see much point of keeping both of them on the list.

There are other players on the list that could be traded too, I don't think our trading is over just yet.....

I think Fitzy will be useful back up for Carey.

If the Saints lose Everitt, is there any chance they'll want Angwin for Begley?

Then there's Schell, Perrie and Hewitt - too many!

Forgot Burton too.

Although he will hopefully play up on a flank or wing like he did a couple of years ago. Keep Stevens at CHF, now on the second best defender. Carey leading out from the goalsquare will be good - will hopefully extend his career by another year or two (ala Lynch).

Add Marsh to the list & 2 of these will go one way or the other, if i had my choice i would give Schell 1 more year to improve & as said before no backup ruckman then we will have to hang on to Marsh,

Fitzgerald Carey and Stevens... that is great 3 talls in the forward line.

We all of the sudden have the best tall forward line in the Comp IMO. Dont listen to the Powder supporters, who think their superstar that kicks 11% of his shots at goal is the greatest thing ever.. and Chad Cornes can do it all.

Fitzgerald will come good.. I have heaps of faith in him.

I would like to See Birdman moved to the wing, and maybe Welshy HFF

A nice small forward now would be good... smokie. I wonder where that Dinnell guy will go in the draft. Small types fall hugely in drafts (Look at Rodan).. he could be perfect to complement the King

We should go after Begley now.. he has the goods.

We must keep pick #36 though.

It appears James Begley is homesick now.
Well he doesnt ring any bells for me. Let Port have him if he must come home.

Marsh (who I reckon we should give ONE more year) would be our best trade bait.

The rest of the tradeables are fairly run o the mill I wouldve thought:mad:

KC, well said about Fitzy. If he can stay fit as our 3rd tall, he will have a good year & make our forward line a worry for most opposition sides. Both Welshy & Birdman should be playing HF flanks further up the ground & will still do some damage (as long as Birdman sticks to the basics rather than the specy marks!).

Not sure Begley should be a priority though. Get rid of Angwin & Marsh, trade for Scott Bassett, & draft a young ruckman (who isn't pycho) & I'll be happy... :D

Dave, Birdman takes the species when it comes naturally - rather than trying to do it on every attempt! He is best floating down from the Wing / HF flank to do this. Wonder how happy Ayres & Co are tonight ... sweat dreams about the forward / midfield matchups... :)

I reckon Ayresy is thinking "****, if Carey doesn't play well next year, or I'll be collecting bins in 2004."

Johnny Reid: "Finally we've got a forward that'll go out and crack some heads. Its about ****ing time."

James Fantasia: "Pick #36 is now our first pick? Pressure of not wasting first round pick is.....off......aaaaaaaaah yes. Hmm, I wonder who Woodville-West Torrens have this year? I guess I should give them a courtesy call or something."

Steven Trigg: "Well gee, if we win a premiership, I should be on the AFL commission within five years....and from there, THE WORLD!"

lol, the scarey thing is how much of this could be true! ;)

Do you think we will still try and trade for a tall defender?
Gary said we still needed one and he usually gets what he wants.

Also I reckon if Sheedy was still around at no. 36 then we should pick him up as Ayres said you can never have enough midfielders and Sheedy is ready-made, only 22 and could have an immediate impact at AFL level IMO, much like Francou.

Thoughts?
