I get laughed at by oppisition idiots when I say fetcher is easily the best fullback in the league and has been for some time. Silvagni is the only other one that comes close from the last 15 years.

Star full backs never get the attention they deserve.SOS was a champion but he is a FB pinup boy. They rave on about him like he is the only good FB in 50 years. Jo's ok though:thumbsu:

I would love to see a stat that shows games won/lost when Fletcher is out suspended or injured.Seems we struggle quite badly when he's out...as this year showed wen he wasn't available.

I think SOS gets the nod criteria wise only due to his efforts as a forward. Dare think that if Fletch had been used the same way throughout his career, he would've been level.
For what its worth, I think Fletch has been the best fullback in the last 10 years.

Thats what I rekon too.

Its vital he has a good year again next season.Hopefully no more suspensions from our own son of a gun.

When he's not playing, our backline looks dubious most of the time.

I'd like to see this backline next year.

B: Slattery Fletcher Lovett-Murray.
HB.McPhee Lee Nash

Most of the blokes are fairly young and could really go well playing along side each other consistently with a bit of help from a couple of others from time to time.
A stable group down back is important as it would certainly help to know what your team mates strengths and weaknesses are so you can help each other out, and having Fletcher there would at least give them a bit of guidance.

After some breaking news here's my new backline :

NLM Michael Fletch
Cole/Welsh McPhee Bradley/Nash

Michael and Fletch can alternate between full back but try to release Fletch as much as possible so he can set up the play going forward.

We might opt to go all small and Mcphee as the attacking CHB.

Slattery, Fletcher, Nash
Bradley, Michael, Welsh

Cole/MJ can be rotated through the HB line, McPhee/McVeigh can be released further upfield and carry the ball through their lines.
Lee can rotate down the spine (FB/HB) while he's learning the game at senior level. Few options open up for us here.

Going from what lloydy said on essendonfc.com.au it looks like fletch will play chb with mal at fb...

Tell you what, we are looking mightier with Mal the man mountain. Dont want to place pressure on him finding form again, but another preason for the kids, Lloyd, Hird and Campo back fit, Fletcher upfield plus some incredible recruits...wonder how our odds of making the 8 are looking at the minute.

Try matching up Lloyd, Lucas, Hird and Johns/Gumbleton?? in the forward line, then worry about how your forwards will play against Fletcher and Michael.

All that needs to happen is our midfielders kicking skills to continue to improve and we'll have a big chance at giving it a run.
