Just looking at our official stats site, we have 7 players with efficiency of 80% or above. I know a lot here don’t have much time for stats (except for using them for evil ;) ) but im 100% the Club and Coach does.

Lids, Newie, Moore, McGuane, Thursty (and Gus and Foley who have had limited games.) all over 80% the interesting thing is the first five make up the bulk of our backline. They have a reasonable clanger rate, but if you look at the leagues top 20 players most of them also do. The good part is the 1 percenters of those backmen, especially Moore 35 and McGuane 45. :thumbsu:

Also, I know heat by some here is on Vickery, but for his limited possessions 62, 40 have been contested and he just missed out with 79.03% efficiency, and 17 one percenters and 16 tackles. Excellent stuff.:thumbsu:

I love the stats. It’s like a big story board. Look at Cotch, only 5 one percenters, that could mean he has so much class he gets it easy the first time. :)

So this should equate to at least 5 wins. What gives????

You could take that to mean that our backline is not looking too bad at all. They've just been under attack so much that there are bound to be some clangers and high scores kicked on us. With Foley back, hopefully our midfield can start competing better and relieve the pressure on our defenders.

i love the fact that deledio is leading our inside 50s and rebound 50s, as well as jack riewoldt is coming second in the team for tackles.

a better highlight for cotchy would be that he leads our contested possessions.

also i lvoe the fact how tuck is up there with the more important categories, shows how hard he works and how important he is to our team.

Thats my point. With the extreme pressure from forward/midfield turnovers and how the ball is delivered back with speed, they have been sensational to keep eff% up over 80, and when they do muck up they have a high one percenter rate. I reckon Leppa is doing a terrific job so far

Our defence is under the pump more than any other. Think some of our turnovers are due to there not being much to kick to upfield so our players have to go so to sideways

when we get Astbury back he will be leading up the ground so he should be our target and also Graham if he keeps playing decent football, needs to take pack marks on the first grab not juggle them though.

there goes mt trying to analyse the game and make something prophetic out of nothing. tip mt, stick to supporting the tigers by just cheering on. thats all you are really good for.

And you're good for any more than that? Get off your high horse, MT made a perfectly valid point.

Agree, sure MT can rant and rave a bit, but most of what he said in this particular post is on the money IMO. Our backline has been under siege most of the year.

I think something was posted by the mods just recently along the lines of attacking the post and not the poster, twas a fair point I reckon ;)

Back line efficiency can also mean they are taking safe, non-creative options because they don't trust their disposal or their team mates to win the ball.

McGuane cost us two goals within a matter of minutes on Sunday when he kicked across goal to a player under pressure. That is just dumb football. Would rather see him risk his efficiancy rate in that situation and kick down the line to a long contest. Just selfish on his behalf and I would strongly consider dropping him for that.

we have not chiped the ball around as much this year as we have in past years. if there is no movement up the ground and just a massive pack we switch, thats why we kick it sideways.

That was stupid by McGuane, but he was good the rest of the day and should not be droped just because of one mistake.

McGuane may have heaps of one percenters, but I still don't think I have seen him lay a shepard.

And if he has, I have seen about 100 more he could have and should have laid.

You stick to your holidaying and leave the chat to the actual supporters. You money hungry piece of poo

i highly doubt he would be thinking of his efficiency rate during a game

Thought our rebound from the backline was the most impressive part of our game, shut down Franklin and Roughead and the only reason the smalls got so many against us is because they outran the zone. That 'solid' backline we were so certain over in '08 looks to be coming back into form :)

Mt you make me laugh sometimes seriously. You are not a dot of a supporter that I have been over the years. Grow up son. There are so many factors that go into back line efficiency that you unfortunately cannot comprehend.
as for my holidaying I will be home soon and making my platinum membership count and cheer on the boys from the outer. you stick to making bold false less predictions and keep us all amused oh great football zen buddha

I agree with this. Deledio and Newman are the only ones really that look to take a chance. The rest just play it safe.

I think it will be more along the lines of if I get it to someone (even if they are 1 meter away in trouble) my job is done. Whereas Newman would be trying to create a forward thrust for the team.

So Moore and McGuane with a combined 80 one percenters and 49 rebound 50s are playing it safe?

i like moore, but we need the right balance of height and size. Would love to see Post replace Moore for a while. I can't work out wy Tambling isn't being played in defence. He would have been a good match up for Rioli

Kicking it out of defence doesn't necessarily mean they are taking risks. I feel more often than not they go for the safe and easy option.

I don't understand why you mentioned the 1%ers.

I would like to think being just over 1/3 the way into the year, Dimma would have a fair idea now on his preferred basic structure, and all the free ride tickets have been used up (except for Griff) and players like Post should now be made to earn their spot when other young players are having their rest.

In my OP it shows Moore and McGuane statistically have been fantastic along with Lids, Newie and Thursty. The mere suggestion of any of those being dropped would be laughable to the Match Committee.
