I get the feeling this off season that a real barometer of where we are as a club will come down too who we can snare come the PSD.

I honestly believe (along with many) that we are ahead of where many think we are at in terms of list management of young players.

We will head into the draft and probably get Gibbs, along with picks 17 and 19.

Murphy will be back come Round 1 along with Kennedy.

Blackwell and Bower will be better for another pre season, and hopefully Russell and Hartlett can step up to the plate over the break.

The likes of Flint, Jackson, Edwards, Smith and Raso will be in the mix.

But our real Barometer will be if we can snare and convince a respectable player that our club has a real future sooner rather than later.

That's not too say that if we don't that we can't pick up a descent kid who has been overlooked in the National Draft, but a player with great credentials will give you the feeling that there is a perception that there is real improvement opportunites come 2007.

A good player coming through in the PSD can really give us the turbo boost that we are looking for.

So I really hope that the club come Monday morning, is really thinking about selling the message of the CFC too a few candidates about how we will be moving forward come off season, and that their contribution will really further fast track that.

2007 - an ultra competitive sqaud game in game out.

2008 - roll the dice and see what happens

Higher skill set & confidence = anything is possible and achieveable.

Totally agree
With another 3 early draft picks and its a good draft this year we should have another 3 quality kids coming through in a few years except Gibbs will have a impact from the start

So the Pre season draft is important , hopefully we can pick up a quality player who is young but ready to play with a body with a few pre seasons under his belt , someone in a contract dispute or maybe a victorian kid playing for Freo or Eagles who want to come home and he is out of contract .

A couple of years ago we were lucky to get Nick Stevens who is going to be a handy player in a good side. Thank god that year the Bulldogs who had first pick that year went for Jade Rawlings

For what it's worth, heres who I think we should try and get through the PSD.

  • John Meeson - young ruckman, taken with pick #8 in the 2004 draft
  • Graham Polak - young defender, has some issues ... but his upside outweights his downside IMHO

really think we can use a guy like polak who is a great defender who only needs discipline. A quality ruckman would be nice that would win the majority of the tap outs as bryan and french aren't coxs or frasers, we really need a good ruck man and with time our problems will be solved

John Meeson has re-signed with the Crows .. will be announced to the media pretty soon. 110% sure.

So there goes our hopes of poaching him.
What about Laycock? Whenever I see him play he always impresses me and looks like a very promising future ruckman. If he hasn't re-signed yet I'd say we should be targeting him.
