I would rather be surprised at his huge goal tally at the end of 2007;)

It is up to players like Jarrad Waite, Brad Fisher & Andrew Carazzo to step up a level, in much the same way as Kade Simpson & Bret Thornton did in 2006. We had good seasons from Whitnall, Fevola & Scotland last season, plus some of our youngsters showed promise. We really need the above-mentioned players to fill that gap between the handful of highly experienced players & the promising youngsters. That is where our improvement will come from.

Totally agree. We really don't have many experienced players, but have a host of youngsters. It is the mid tier players that need to stand up:)

They have said that, so it's good they know the pressure they're under.

I think we will only see big improvements this year from our boys.

The light is getting bigger!!

I think you could add Adam Bentick and Andrew Walker to that list as well. Walks has stepped up over the past 2 seasons, but I think season 2007 could well be his "break out" year.

I was going to include Walker, but I considered him, at 20 years of age, still one of our promising youngsters. What it does highlight, though, is how much the failure of Sporn, Livingstone & Davies to go to the next step hurts us in the 22-25 age group. This is in addition to our low number of experienced players in the 25+ age group, compared to most other teams.

We are unfortunately going to be relying on the likes of Walker, Bentick, Blackwell, Russell to step up quickly to cover the void of players in the 22-25 age group.

Agree with that MS, but Justin Davies did have the talent IMO to make it at AFL level, but he never grabbed it, and he also seemed to be to laconic for my liking. Also finished his time at Carlton with a crippling back injury.

Luke Livingston was drafted to Carlton almost as a SOS replacement. The guy had never played in the back half ever in his junior career. He also had some pretty unusual injuries in his time as well, one being a twisted bowel IIRC.

Trent Sporn also looked like he could make it, with one very memorbale game against Essendon when he played on James Hird, and kept him very quiet. Also had some fairly serious injuries as well.
