Our clash jumper is appalling

I have never warmed to the idea of clash jumpers, they are money-making exercise, nothing more. I for one agree with Eddie McGuire's stance refusing to yield to the ridiculous obligation being enforced by the AFL for clash guernsey, but thats another story.

But our clash jumper we wore against St Kilda is appalling. For christ sake you could barely recognise it was an MFC jumper. I could handle last year's predominantly red strip. At least it was just red and blue, adhering the colours we've played under for 150 years. But silver? WTF? Seriously, the people running our club have no pharking idea. How anyone couldve given that the green light staggers me, then again these are the same people who said it would be a good idea for the club to have merged 12 years ago. I'm not sure what I personally can do to change it but surely I'm the only one who hates this abomination.

First time it's been worn in Melbourne probably. It's a lot less noticable when watching on TV.

I dont post here that often. But I've been against it since day 1. Its definitely been annoying me ever since I saw it in the preseason.

Yeah, I think a portion on the front was white and the rest was silver. I'm not going to comment about the jersey (considering our club wears a white strip) but the shorts are terrible!

Preseason I didn't mind it, I thought it was a change, a good way to get some $ and harmless, but as soon as I saw it yesterday I knew we were in trouble, I mean who the hell can possibly give 100% wearing stupid silver. McLean even came back on with what looked like a white shirt under his. Stupid bloody jumper, I hope they at least go back to the red one with the demon because kids could relate to that one, or the light blue from the 80's or whenever it way because that wont clash with whoever we apparently clash with (Saints, Freo, Port, Essendon, Carlton, Brisbane)???? and it is atleast close to our true jumper, and is close to representing something in the club.

Yes the shorts have silver on them and look equally stupid. With all our lack of success I least thought at least we've got one of the better jumpers in the comp. Cant even say that now. However, the jumper does adequately reflect our performances

Should just wear the heritage jersey...That would only clash with the Bulldogs and even then we wouldn't need to wear it, we can just wear our home kit

i like this strip too to be honest... if you remember filling in the survey from the club late last year, one of the questions was if the club added a 3rd colour for an alternative strip, what colour would you like the most... obviously silver was the winner...

having said that, it probably did clash a little more with the st. kilda jumper yesterday and our regular jumper would've been fine... but that's the AFL's call concerning who we wear the clash jumper against...

another question, would people be as upset with it if we didn't get belted wearing it..? didn't the blues say they would never wear their clash jumper again after getting a hiding in it earlier in the year? seems to be a way of venting after a poor performance...

Not for away matches, just for those that clash. That jumper is putrid and just shouldn't be worn although i have seen a few Melbourne supporters parading it around.

In all honesty I quite like the jumper. It is somewhat aesthetically pleasing, and is certainly not ugly, the shorts could perhaps use some work though.
I know it doesn't appeal to traditionalists, but for a club like Melbourne where money is a huge concern, there is nothing wrong with trying to sell a few more kits and add another dimension to their merchandise.
I don't see why it is creating such a stir really, it won't assist or diminish performance in any way.
However, I'll reiterate that this is only my opinion.

McNamee said today we are 'stuck' with the jumper for another year after this becuase we need to keep clash jumpers for two years. Why the ____ is that a rule? The AFL is a joke, its going to cause people to walk away from the game very soon
