Our Forward line is lacking

The game against Freo made one thing patently clear, our forward line needs work.

For all the beat ups about our backline it appears to be doing remarlkably well. Wave after wave of attacks by freo were repelled, with Lance and walker both featuring as potential BOGs. These two were well assisted by the likes of Simpson, Houlihan and Carrazzo and even bentick giving the blues a powerful defensive structure and HEAPS of drive coming out of the back line. YES there were some shocking turnovers and poor disposals (lance, lappin etc) but on the whole well done.

The problem occured for the blues when we ventured forward, pretty much across centre half forward. How many times did I see the ball being kicked to Eddie Betts with two Freo talls on him ? WTF ? Waite with two blokes all over him, and Deluca did better than a lot of people are saying but needs to go. The only person who really stood up was FEV. We cant have one person forward of the center square who can do waht needs to be done. Its just not going to work. We need someone with something.....anything. Either Bryan, O'Halpin or Kennedy (anyone else fine, but the need to be pretty big and pretty strong with an agressive, attacking spirit).

The blues were beaten by some appalling decision in the first half, however when we tried to come back we were let down by repeated rebounds into the hands of Freo players in teh forward half.

Would like to hear some suggestions however would prefer to see something done. Anything. My favourite play of the night was watching Kouta bomb into Eddie BEtts in the forward pocket with two Freo talls on him....I think every player on the ground just looked up at the coaching box as if to say " yeah great idea ??!"

Remember, we were missing Fisher who adds a lot to us. Much more capable than Deluca; with him playing I doubt that Freo would have been able to double team Fev and Waite as they would also have to pay Fisher some attention.

Totally agree, but the point still stands. WOuld LOVE to see lance back there one day. But the General seems to have found his niche. Damn he would be great somewhere up front. We need another lance.

Against Sydney, i believe we shot ourselves in the foot at the selection table.
It was VERY clear that Waite was struggling with his injury, and without him the only real forward would be Fevola.
Setanta O'hAlpin should have played along with either TLO or Kennedy. We lacked any presence of a CHF. Other than DeLuca barely no one presented.
If Josh Kennedy doesnt get a game against Hawthorn after his performance for the ants last week and the hard yards he's been putting on the track ill be dammed. He is just the player we need to boost our team and find a way into our forward line.
