What does everyone think of our forward line structure. For a long time it has bothered me because it always appears to be crowded and theres seems like there is no space for the forwards to lead in.

When the game starts all the crow forwards line up in a line which results in a heap of players in our forward 50 to start with. Wouldn't it be better to have Tippett and Walker in the goal square with Porps floating around in the pocket and then push the other forwards right up past the 50m circle on the square.

Walker plays his best when he can find space but at the moment he is really struggling to find that space to lead into. Tippett is forced to fly againt 7 or 8players in a pack because our forward line is so conjested.

The other issue that bothers me is why is Dangerfield not playing more in the middle of the ground. Dont get me wrong i think he does well in the forward line but we badly need up and coming midfielders. At the moment he is getting between 10 and 15 possessions a game and to me for us to be successful we need Danger to start getting 20+ possesions every now and again. I think Danger should be playing 80% in the middle and maybe 20% in the forward line.

Picking 2 ruckman certainly helps our structure

I agree I too would like to see Danger spend more time in the midfield

Porplyzia's lack of fitness and form has hurt us

Walker needs to lift his work rate and find ways to impose himself on the game at a more consistent level

I would like to see Tippett at CHF and Walker at FF not the other way around

Petrenko as a small forward is not working

Knights injury has really hurt us

The lack of space is a result of slow ball movement allowing the opposition to get numbers back

My Ideal forward structure

F Porplyzia Walker Resting Midfielder

HF Macca Tippett Knights

Walker still does not work hard enough but hes improving dont rush him.Once he becomes a target like he will our forward line will be ok.Seems to me Tipp is already getting double teamed

However i see the problem in the midfield if we get the ball in the forward line quickly its ok even now. However when we move it slowly it struggles and always will

Right now are forward line is sus but i am confident it will be lethal by seasons end.Must keep Tipp at FF so hopefully Griff plays like he did last night.Get stiffy back so we get a bit more run and quick ball movement out of defense.

Petrenko as a small forward has not worked all year, not sure why Craig is being so stubborn to persist with him. Even Dougie looked more likely to kick a few goals as a small forward. DRAFT FOR NEEDS RENDELL.

I know our forward line is always going to be conjested when we are getting thrashed in the midfield but even when we win the ball out the middle it looks conjested. I believe we should try and isolate Tippo and Tex one on one with there opponents and push the other forwards up the ground a bit. Other teams generally have there forward line open at the bounce of the ball in the middle.

reckon danger isn't playing more midfield due to fitness levels. he had an interrupted pre-season and then missed games during the year. i'd like to see him spend some time going with the hard running elite's next year. guys like judd, hayes, ablett, cooney/griffen etc. not entire games, but be part of the rotation. he'll learn plenty about what's required to be a midfielder. and with his pace, he could still get a bit of the ball.

If our midfielders got the ball into the forward line quickly instead of going sideways and backwards all the time there would be plenty of room for our forwards to move around in.
Just look at how well the forward line function when the did.
Danger should play the majority of the game in the midfield and rest in the forward line like what Carlton and Geelong do with Judd and Ablett.
