Our Forward Line.

Such a lack of class in the forward line. To me it's a big mess. We have to work our absolute arses off to kick goals and then up the other end you get goals out of nowhere.

Jack needs to play as the no.1 forward. No more decoy crap. He is a gun.
Tyrone needs to throw his weight around. With McBean likely being ready to play it should be possible to drop him if he doesn't play well. I've always said players who have LTI often struggle the 1st year back. So next year is huge for Tyrone.
Edwards is playing some decent footy at the moment and should get another year as depth but we need to get some games into Elton. Elton could become that big, monster forward we desperately need.
Edwards for me has played too much midfield and not enough forward. He's the one who can create a goal from nothing but he's barely played there.
King as a defensive forward needs to be upgraded on desperately. Should be a non-negotiable that a forward applies pressure. You shouldn't need a purely defensive one. Look at Rioli at Hawthorn. Tackles like a mad man but is super dangerous.

Overall I think we need the 2 KPF's, 1 2nd ruck/KPF, 1 medium forward (resting mid), 1 small forward (resting mid), 1 pure small forward.

KPF 1: Jack Riewoldt - no brainer really.
KPF 2: Todd Elton/Liam McBean (A.Edwards back-up)
2nd Ruck/KPF: Tyrone Vickery or Liam McBean
Medium Forward/Resting Mids: Trent Cotchin/Dustin Martin/Brett Deledio (3 man rotation between midfield and forward)
Small Forward/Resting Mid: Shane Edwards/Matthew McDonough rotating with each other 50/50.
Pure Small Forward: We don't have one.

Adds much more class to the forward line though we need to recruit a quick, dangerous small forward and get him up to speed quickly.

We avg 14.13 a game this season (which is pretty good), from an avg I50 count of 52.3 (ranked 8th), so the stats say we're doing well at converting I50 into scoring opportunities.

Having said that, I think our delivery I50 could improve, alot of missing targets/kicking to the wrong option/kicking to the players oppositions advantage.

Agree with S Edwards role, should be small forward with the occasional rotation through the mid, we need him forward more.

Hopefully McBean comes on and we pickup a quality small forward and I think we're set.

king provides great forward pressure but he just doesn't kick enough goals imo or make the opposition accountable for the damage he could inflict. I'd like to see McDonough or O'hanlon take his spot and for sheds to spend a much greater amount of time forward.

Our forwards need to get bigger. Jack will never be quick so he might as well bulk up. He gets outmuscled by jamieson, frawley, Carlisle etc. jack was most exciting when he won his first Coleman. He was heavier then and better in 1 on 1. Time to get bigger jack. Vickery also needs to get past 100kg to be better 1 on 1. Hit the weights boys

We have a dominant midfield and probably the best FF in the entire league. It could be better and should be better. A lot of the options are already on the list.

Riewoldt needs to play from the square and as Madtiger2006 posted he can afford to get big like 2010 and be a monster in the forward line.
McBean will add class to the forward line.
Rotating Cotchin and Lids forward (as well as Martin) more often like last year adds class and fire power.

But we just don't have that speedy, opportunist small forward who kicks them out of his arse.

Our midfield is clearly our strength
Our backline is second and improving. Need to get Grimes a full pre-season.
Then it's a huge gap to the forward line IMO. Some of the pieces are there though.

What part of him is ready made? He's an 18 yo KPF. Look at Daniher this year. Struggled.

We need McBean to come in and have some impact as a 3rd tall forward next year. That way we can play Jack at FF and if he gets double teamed McBean can get loose. Vickery is improving but he is still an average forward and a below average ruckman. He is 23 now and needs to show more next year. I wouldn't be averse to trading him if we can secure another decent ruckman (and get a good deal).

Knights was showing something before he was injured and he could fill the small forward role. I'm not convinced that S Edwards is the answer for this role. Another small forward with X factor would be good.

We should keep A Edwards for depth to cover injuries but he is not in our best 22.

I liked the look of Elton last year but he seems to have stagnated this year. He is still young and may need more time.

Hasn't happened is spot on. Dusty has. Cotch looked dangerous there yesterday.
