Am I the only one who has noticed this? Our game plan has been worked out by every coach in the AFL. We keep trying to play the same style even when it's not working for us and Clarko does NOTHING to change it. What's wrong with a bit of tight one on one when the situation requires it, or using the huddle at kickouts or one of several different zone formations we get taught even at Amateur level? No. Come rain, hail or shine we play the same style. Offensively we try to run and handball until we find a loose man and we will not kick unless it is to a loose man. Defensively we zone up and are basically content for our opponent to chip around the boundary uncontested until they kick into their forward 50 where we will supposedly have numbers and run the ball out. Well guess what everybody, it's not working. We aint surprising anyone anymore and unless Clarko adds some strings to our bow, I fear there will be more ugly football and ball butchering ahead. But hell I've only been to about 1000 games of footy in the last 25 years and played about 300 games. What would I know? Would love to know the thoughts of those who attend our games. TV viewers see much less of the actual set up part of our play.

Yep Bol spot on. I started up a similar thread 5 minutes back. Useless gameplan. Back to basics, 1 on 1 footy. If we don't do this next week, then Clarkson doesnt have faith in our youngsters.

I want to add to this..
When we get numbers back and win the ball in defensive 50 how much pressure is put on our defenders.. We chip it around to try to create a loose man.. We will not win another game this year if we play this style.. Basically our game plan is counter attacking, relying on opposition to turn it over..
Only if we put pressure on the opposing team in their defensive 50 like they do to us.. Make them chip it around.. But no we let them run it out with legitimate ease..
But one thing yesterday I noticed that seems to be against us all the time, when there is a contest for some unknown reason we always happen to give away a free kick.. Half of the decisions were crap by the men in white and half were there.. What I noticed was the players body language after all these decisions going against them, they tried to avoid the contested situation.. This is why Jordan Lewis lost the plot yesterday and I didnt blame him either, I felt the same..

Clarko missed a simple plan yesterday from North in that when they were clearing the ball they played the old (yep, old) small chip passes 20m - 25M which was a Neesham tatcic in the 80's, time and time again they did it, yet we didn't wake up once....I also agree that the umpiring was crapola against us, at one stage they had an extra 12 free kicks...this doesn't help particularly when the confidence is down anyway...
