Looking ahead do we have a decision dilemma coming up - who will captain our club after Murphy?

We have a couple of beauties waiting in the wings. Cripps has established himself as quality player in a short time and has those fantastic qualities of fierce competitiveness and work ethic. In even less time Weitering has shown a maturity beyond his 18 years and has leadership material written all over him.

I'll stay loyal with Cripps but wouldn't be disappointed if Weitering became captain. Maybe there's another contender out there. What do you think?

Yep, I think Doc has that natural hardness that you really want to see in a skipper. He also plays in a position that allows him to get a good read on the whole game, and the talk from the club (Bolton, I think?) is that he's become a real student of the game.

Not potting Weiters and Cripps, but I think Docherty embodies some of the best aspects of both of them. Between the three, we've got a good balance of personality, maturity and grit.

Some of the best captains haven't necessarily been the team's best/decorated players. We only need to look at Collingwood as an example, but i just think we are developing a leadership group that will have us covered all over the ground in a couple of years.

We have 3 outstanding candidates. Happy to be sitting on the fence until it's time to jump off.

Whilst completely from left field, I see Silvagni style of play as the "follow me boys" style, so don't discount him by the time the decision needs to be made.

The best thing about that, we would have A KPP defender, running defender, beast of a midfielder and a courageous forward all with tremendous leadership qualities. That is the entire ground with leaders. You really cannot set up a better foundation for a tilt at the premiership in the near future.

All good candidates but I'm on the Doc bandwagon as well.

Cripps and Weiner Ingredients will always show leadership anyway, but I feel Doc in particular has a level of grit and willpower, combined with his constant thinking and learning of the game, that will put him in great stead to be our next captain.

We have had success before handing the reigns to you a young blue eyed boy that dared to dream big (Sticks)

Weitering is clearly the front runner in my eyes, he is mature and already commands respect. With his Maturity an position he plays (I feel KPP make the best Captains) he is primed to take over.

Cripps as his VC - I am a huge Cripps fan and believe he would be a fantastic skipper but I think he just gets nudged out. Cripps will be the on field general that leads by example.

Regardless of who gets it both are worthy and to be discussing this topic means exciting times for our mighty baggers!!

SOSOS to kick 2

It's great that we have such leadership quality in our younger players. I think Murph will stay on as captain for a few more years. As much as I love Docherty, it's hard to go past Cripps. The consistency he is already showing, for basically a second year player, is testament to his professionalism and work ethic. I think Cripps will be one of our best ever captains (big statement I know, but he is absolute quality).

Gotta be Doc with Cripps as his VC. While I'm not a fan of co-captains and co-vice, a few years after that they could maybe make Doc and Cripps co-cap's and Weiters the VC.

I pretty much should be banned from posting in this thread off the back of me pushing for Stevens over Judd.
This is why your kind is extinct..
