No Hartigan in your side metallichris?

i think he has changed hartigen for jackson, but i believe that is a close enough side to our round one line up. i wouldnt think there'd be many changes.

go tiges! ;)

Metalchris has Chaffey in twice, on the wing and on the bench. I like the side he's put forward, with Hartigan on the bench instead of the second Chaffey.

I think Hartigan would start if there is a small forward like a Milne type player to match up on, because the starting backline metalchris has is relatively tall.

Perhaps a job for Hartigan on Ablett or Chapman? Jackson is another option for either of those two or maybe Newman.

My side would be

B - Kellaway - Gaspar - Jackson
HB - Bowden - Hall - Johnson
C - Newman - Coughlan - Tivendale
HF - Krakouer - Richardson - Brown
F - Deledio - Simmonds - Tambling
R - Knobel - Tuck - Hyde
INT - Campbell - Chaffey - Stafford* - Hartigan

E - Pettifer - Raines - Roach

Stafford to play provided he is fit enough and has enough match practice under his belt

That side looks very exciting indeed! :D

Quick question.....who would be omitted if Shultzy and D-Rod were fit and ready??

If Schulz and Rodan were fit to play...

B: Kellaway Gaspar Jackson
HB: Tivendale Schulz Newman
C: Hyde Rodan Chaffey
HF: Krakouer Richardson Bowden
F: *Tuck Simmonds Brown
R: Knobel Johnson Coughlan

Int: Graham Hartigan Campbell Deledio

Emg: Roach Pettifer Tambling

Hall and Tambling out. Tambling out before Deledio purely because he has minor injury concerns with his leg/ankle.

*Tuck out of the goal square, as he can and has played FF.

Going by my team, i would say Hall and Deledio/Staff out.

OK, based on what I've seen/read this preseason and how TW has used players, my thinking at the moment for the starting team is:

FB: Kellaway Gaspar Newman

HB: Bowden Hall Tivendale

C: Hyde Tuck Chaffey

HF: Brown Richardson Deledio

FF: Krakouer Simmonds Campbell

R: Knobel Johnson Coughlan

Int: Pettifer Hartigan Tambling Graham

Emerg: Raines Roach Stafford Jackson Moore

Notes:

Jackson hasn't impressed me so far this preseason and has some injury concerns, I'd like to see him get some form for Coburg.

Newman, Hartigan, Chaffey and Hyde can all play defensive roles on small forwards or as taggers. We are finally looking like we can stop an opposition midfield as well as score with our own.

Given how TW has used Tivendale so far, I'd expect to see him start off the HBF to provide plenty of run with Bowden.

Hall to take the tallest forward, Gaspar the 2nd and Kellaway the 3rd, with Graham on the bench to help out.

Coughlan, Johnson and Tuck look like a good starting onball group to me, with Knobel working well in the ruck so far.

I've left Stafford out because he hasn't played much so far, not sure if this is injury or form related, or whether they are trying to save his old body for the regular season. I don't know if we can carry in Knobel, Simmonds, Stafford and Hall in the same lineup, certainly not if the conditions are poor.

Forward setup excites me at the moment, I can see a lot of goal-kickers there. I've put Campbell in the pocket, but he could easily be an impact player off the bench. Maybe Deledio could start in the pocket, with Pettifer or Tambling on the HFF. I like Krakouer close to goal as he has great goalsense.

Without Schulz and Rodan, we are a bit short on depth, with probably only 28 or so players looking right to go now, and a lot of them kids. We're ok now, but if injuries and poor form hit, then we might struggle.

Well thought out Jezza. All seems logical, except I'm not sure that Cogs is ready yet to be on-ball other than in short spells. TW has hinted that he will spend time in the forward line. Probably Hyde/Krakouer/Chaffey will be stop gaps until Coughlan regains full match fitness (which may take a while).

Just a thought, our midfield looks completely different to year's past. Plus we finally have some depth all over the ground pretty much.

Expected players that can play in positions for 2005...

UP FORWARD:
Richardson, Simmonds, Brown, Krakouer, Campbell, Tambling, Deledio, Tuck, Bowden, Schulz, Tivendale, Hyde, Pettifer, Knobel, Morrison, Moore, Meyer, Hilton, Graham.

MIDFIELD:
Coughlan, Johnson, Bowden, Brown, Hyde, Newman, Chaffey, Deledio, Tambling, Hartigan, Tivendale, Meyer, Tuck, Roach, Campbell, Raines.

DEFENSE:
Gaspar, Kellaway, Chaffey, Campbell, Bowden, Pettifer, Morrison, Moore, Hall, Jackson, Schulz, Johnson, Hyde, Tivendale, Hartigan, Graham, Newman.

The future's lookin' good boys. :)

Intersting point on Jacko. Arnt we under the train of though 'get 50 games under their belts asap'. Going by that you'd get the Raines, Hartigan, Jackson types as many games as you could.

Gaspar on an Ottens will be interting. Id hate Hall to take Ottens for round 1. Could get nasty for us.

.

You couldnt have Hall, Knoble, Stafford & Simmonds. If its a 'bad day' Geelong will kill us on the ground.

Id rather see Stafford over Knobel. A better player. I think he was just rested thus far. There is much point playing such a injury prone player untill the real stuff. I doubt we will get 15 games from Staf this year.

Yes, we do want them to develop as quickly as possible, but we can not fall into the trap of selecting them simply because they are young, they must earn their selection through good form. Pettifer and Fiora are two prime examples of players who were selected simply for being promising kids, not because they were in form. Stunted development.

Hall had a decent game against Brisbane, Ottens is out of form. I just think without him, we are too short in defence as they will have Ottens and Playfair.

Agreed, unless conditions are good and all 4 are in good nick, we can't afford to have that many talls.

I've always been a fan of Stafford's, very useful forward and back, plus those nice sharp elbows. But right now I can't guage where he's at right now so decided not to have him in. Also Knobel has been in good form giving first use to our improved midfield.
