Guys, I am a fully paid up Captains Club member and are yet to recieve my voting documents.

I have spoken to the membership department and have been told I would recieve them last week.

Well....

I am still waiting, as usual.....

Is the club playing games? A directive of the current 'leader'....

Or am I being impatient?

One thing I urge, all those who are voting, please send them into the club via post, even registered.

it is undemocratic to forward them via fax. These can be deemed null and void.

Think carefully.....

They have to be in by a certain date, so they'll need to hurry. I got mine a few weeks ago and mailed it by the 19th.

SNAFU. I got mine, maybe yours was lost in the mail. I know it's a well-worn excuse, but it does actually happen on rare occasions.
Or am I being impatient?
You're right to be impatient. Time is marching on.

I seem to recall the returning officer saying differently, and that votes forwarded to specific tickets will still be counted, including faxed ones. However, I recommend sending them directly to the returning officer with the provided envelope. The problem is, the return date might already have passed. Does anyone remember the date?

Marcus Clarke has stated that the process or faxed papers can be cancelled.

He also said to the club that he wasnts an official audit or the votes overseen. This has been vitoed by the club.....

Wonder why????

Sounds like Pol Pot is running the show.

The club has used the same vote counting process for years, why now is it suddenly a problem for some people?

You don't find it just a little 'smelly' the way this has been orchestrated?

And yet people are still voting for this ticket. FFS, I'd rather have some disunity on the board for a while and see Smorgon's power base eroded. Viable alternative ticket or not, this board and their underhanded tactics have to go.

Not in terms of the vote counting process no, one of the guys that was on the original opposition ticket with Tom Elliot, Peter Sinn i think it is, and those boys, well it is actually his accounting firm that handles the vote counting and has for years, so you can not be fairer than that.

In terms of the election in general well things happen in elections, it is after all a struggle for power and everyone will use the assets at hand to win the power, whether that be mud slinging or contacting members using the Football clubs membership roll, in the end all that will matter is our votes and if the counting process is true and correct, which i believe it is, then it will be us the members who make the decision regardless of how the race was run. We as members are expected to wade through all the ******** and then make our decision, best to just ignore the crap that goes on during the election and vote for the people you think will best serve the interests of the Football Club.:thumbsu:

Ps: It does not benefit either side by people not getting to vote, they don't know how you or me are going to vote, so why would they withold the chance of them getting an extra vote by purposely not sending you or anyone else a ballot paper. Doesn't make sense.

What's been orchestrated? The voting process is unchanged.

Alec, we are getting fed so much information and more often than not, depending on the side, misinformation..

I rang the club, who assured me my papers where sent...Arriving today or tomorrow....

I wont hold my breath!

I love the club mate, first and foremost. I want what is best for the club. I want this over as quick as possible and the right people elected. Who they are remains to be seen....

But the fact there are only some 1900 or so registered members to vote is a little farcial. Why is it not automatic with your membership? Why do you have to enrol in the first place??

I'm yet to receive my voting papers either.
I'm not sure you can blame the Unity camp for that though
This is an admnistrative problem.

I'm aware of a number of people in a similar position
This could mean the difference between a candidate being elected and one not being successful.
I have contacted the club about the time running short.
It shouldn't be our responsibility to keep asking for these papers but I will continue to do so.

Just like most aspects of the club.

The marketing department has been operating below par since the early 90's in my opinion.

Hopefully this will be addressed by Marcus Clarke as soon as he is elected!

There have been changes in the election process this year. Candidates not being allowed scrutineers (due to issues last year) is one of the changes. I think they're also not going to release the final vote count.

Here's a crazy idea, go to the club, pick up a voting form and fill it out and give it to the lady at reception like i did last week when i went to training. Probably a bit late to start complaining about it 4 days before votes a due in. Ring the club and ask them whats going on!!

People, stop making excuses, if you want to vote be proactive and do something about it, it aint a difficult task.

Story on AFL.com says that Ken Dyer has been appointed as an independent scrutineer. He has performed this role at several other AFL clubs, as well as several company board elections. The returning officer is Andrew Mansour, who has performed the same duty for the last 14 years. He is in charge of ensuring the process is above board. If anyone thinks that he is in any way influenced by any of the candidates, they are kidding themselves. This election is being run in accordance with the club's constitution. You can't ask more than that.

I'm curious - what were the issues last year?

Some people actually work....You know, 7am to 5pm....

Some people have families too...

I have been in contact with the club since the 16th of January.

What more do you want?

So it's a case of:

Im not out! I will take my bat and ball and go home!

No figures, no scrutiny?

It sounds like to me it is a foregone conclusion.

I think the counting of votes is pretty much a non-issue, but I wanted to correct the statement that there weren't changes, as there are a few reasonably significant changes. I'm not trying to make a comment on the motivations behind the changes.

I don't know. It's just been stated there were problems last year, which has lead to a decision to not allow candidates to have scrutineers. I'm not sure who made the decision.

Well said linchpin, I haven't received mine either & won't be bothering now as there is no one worth voting for.

Well surprise surprise....

The papers have arrived. 2 letters actually. One being from Smoron and the Unity ticket.....

The master of Puppets is pulling your strings!

Once again, let down by the BLOODY club. Wednesday the 31st of DJan. still no voting papers. Just propaganda from the Smoron group....

This club is farcial!
