I live 250km~ from the Gabba and am a country member making 5 home games a year. Why is it that I can leave from home at 3pm to get to the game and make it back home at 12.30am 5 times a year but my Brisbane/GC metro counterparts can't?

It's an embarassment that we are getting these poor crowds and am fed up with being outnumbered by travelling Victorian supporters.

Lions fans (if any remain) man up and make it to the games! Maybe if we had majority support at home, it might spur the team on to win the tight ones.

:thumbsd:

I had thought initially that the poor crowds were heavily influenced by the floods earlier this year - though a drop of 10,000 still sounds terrible by all means.

We are getting 20k+ to most home games, which all things considered is a pretty good effort. I don't think it's so much that we are out numbered, it's just that the ferals make more noise. We are a pretty sheepish bunch up here.

It doesn't worry me too much, the most i hear from the supporters around me is 'kick the bloody thing'. With stupid uninformed comments like that, i'd prefer a bit of silence.

Speaking of silence, has anyone else noticed around section 64 that the speakers haven't been working all year ?? we can't hear any ground announcements or anything anymore.

The drop off in support has been a lot worse than what the Club would have expected.

Although we should in part be thankful that we have the opposition fans turning up in droves. Without them the crowds would be utterly terrible. Maybe the Club should even promote coming up to Brisbane to watch their club play even more (as a way to at least make some money out of our poor on-field performance).

I wonder what is going to happen next week - Port Adelaide at home, 1:10pm on a Sunday!!! Will we get to 17,000? Whatever it is, it won't be pretty.

Good post. I agree. I feel the Brisbane population doesn't have the same passion and love for the game as Victorian fans in general. We need everyone to fire up and get along to games and make some noise. There's no doubt in the world that if the players heard another 10k fans in the crowd making noise, they would be inspired.

The 2009 elimination final win over Carlton is the best form I have seen from the Gabba Crowd in recent years.

Hm. Well I live near Beauy, does that work? I could probs get to Beauy but I wasn't sure if theres a bus around Beauy to get there. :L

Is there a site I can organise busses for this?

have a look at translink, I think that is the website. I doubt you would be able to get home from the match via bus. Might get to Browns Plains though.

I don't think there is any doubt that Brissy people don't have the same passion for AFL as opposed to the Melbourne folk who live it.

Makes you wonder if the AFL thought that one through when they put another team there.

I'd love to be going to games but I simply can't afford it. Paying off a house saving for a wedding amongst the hike in bills across the board it really is hard to get to games these days. I am hoping to get a membership for next season though if I can make it happen.

Awesome game. A 70 something Lions woman got so into it she poured her beer all over a Carlton dropkick in GA from the upper tier. The feral got ejected for his response! :thumbsu:

Love the good ol' days

I must be too young to know this joke aha. Google research, also Dad's a Lion's supporter so he would go, mum's a Pies unfortunatly. I have a part-time job too earning me around $110 a week, how much is a ticket these days? Granted money can be slim this time of the year.

You know divorcing parents is all the go in hollywood.:D

Anything to see more Lions supporters at the game! Three game passes start at $75 and General Admission tickets are as little as $25.50 per match. Family passes present the best value - 2 adults and 4 kids under 15yrs for only $51 per match. Get your friends to bring their kids along. Info here at the Club website. http://www.lions.com.au/match tickets/tabid/8717/default.aspx Buses to and from the Gabba are free from the major shopping centres too on Game day, starting approx 2hrs before the match starts.

If you love the Lions, get there! Too many people bang on about the team on BF like they care and then don't attend games or worse won't buy a membership because the guernsey is a horrid, disrespectful mess. We are talking about supporting the team so if you can, get along to a game and cheer. The Lions really need your support, not just comments posted on internet forums.

Truly spoken! Those who can't afford to or are otherwise unable to get to games or take out a membership yet still enjoy discussing the team they support, online or otherwise, should be burnt at the stake. Disgusting people, I say.
