Classic danger game situation - away from home against a team that has just lost its coach, tricky conditions with a howling gale - down by 6 goals early in the 2nd quarter (breeze at our back admittedly), Cloke reported, Thomas frustrated into jumper punching some nobody, strange freekicks being given away (Port players headclash and get a free???)...

Could have easily gone pearshaped but the last 20 mins of the 2nd quarter and then the second half simply outstanding. Fantastic effort boys, well done! :thumbsu:

The umpiring in that game was astoundingly poor both ways, but much more so against the Pies. Rodan was pretty much untouchable, was allowed to burrow his way through packs and drop the pill without reprimand, as well as being KO'd by his own captain and getting a free kick for it. Disgusting to watch.

That free kick to to Rodan for running into our own player might of had something to do with the fact Collingwood were wearing a guernsey with the same back as the Port guernsey.

Good win by you guys, I honestly thought we were in with a chance after that ripper first term, but was quickly dissuaded of that notion in the third.

I know what you mean and that is the only plausible explanation. Even I was having trouble distinguishing who was who in the packs. Its almost understandable that they would make an error like that. Not excusable though.

Thanks mate. In days gone by we would have probably given up, but damn we are a professional unit now.

The only plausible explanations is that tossbag McClaren was umpiring. Regardless of teams playing he usually makes a few big blunders (see Hawks v Dogs last week).

Now on the positive side it was a very mature Collingwood to come back like that. Impressive win considering the conditions on field and off. :thumbsu:

what about brogan taking it from the ruck and immediately getting caught? por mi madre. what possible excuse could there be for not paying holding the ball? maybe home ground advantage is some explanation but i also think mcburney wanted to win it for choco.

Mclaren wasn't umpiring, the "bald guy" was McBurney, who for years has been one of the better umps in the league.

Last night he wasn't terrible, it was the other 2 less experienced umps who were beyond bad, they were woeful.

The umpire who paid the Rodan head high hit should be dropped immediately, because he plain "guessed".

And to any umpiring official (yes that means you Gieshcen) who says umpires don't look at stats, explain the 2nd and 3rd quarters where we had way more frees then Port after they had way more then us in the 1st.

Umpiring has become a political game it seems, controlled completely by the AFL commission.:thumbsd:

I'm just glad in the end they had no real impact on the result.

That free in the first that was reversed after Didak tackled Boak i think it was, was a joke. At quter time i couldnt see us come back and win it, we only scored a point, the umps were against us and they were switched on. It was good to come home with the four points in the end.

Once we got close in the second I was pretty confident we'd run the game out. Port really should have piled on 8 or 9 goals in that first quarter, we were completely dominated.

That free in the first that was reversed after Didak tackled Boak i think it was, was a joke.

Tell me about it. What was Didak meant to do - not hold him up and let the advantage be payed? Silly call.

Great post, and a great win that will stand us in good stead at finals time. A good thing to have this experience now. Much more significant than an easy win would have been. We know we can turn it around in style.:thumbsu:
