Bringing indie developers to your lounge....

Don't like it? Make your own changes or even make your own game!

For $99 what's not to like?

This thing should definitely be headed our way soon. They've smashed their kick start goal of $950K and currently have pledges over $3.6m wil 28 days remaining.

Actually interested.

Wonder if it could run games like DayZ....

it's a $99 android box, it won't run anything close to dayz. its designed for indie games that are on ios and android but to be used with a controller.

most people will just use that box as an emulator to play n64 and snes games

Now I'm sad.

Yep, nowhere near as innovative as people think.

It's basically a cheap way of bypassing having to buy a mobile or tablet in order to play these types of games. There will still be the same restrictions that come with the mobile platform in terms of game size, graphical capabilities, etc.

It's a somewhat decent idea, but ain't anything revolutionary in terms of what it will bring. Definitely isn't going to be some competitor to Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft in the console landscape. Devs don't tend to be fans of Android all that much either which could be a stumbling block.

Now I'm sad.

it's not to say that the ouya is bad, the specs are the same as a high end phone (without the phone cell). its got the right price point of $99, it's already raised over $3.7m in its first day and a half and will be the biggest kickstarter ever.

the thing has a lot of potential, i'll get one when it comes out next year. it already has twitch.tv signed on and it's completely open so there will be all kinds of things coming out for it. mojang has signed on to put minecraft on there, other indie devs are already working towards getting their games on there.

i'll be using it to play emulator games, and stream twitch.tv on my television at night.

people are too critical, this thing isn't trying to take on sony or microsoft. it's a $99 console that encourages hackers and indie developers to build for it.

Robert Bowling and his dev Robotoki have committed to giving Ouya an exclusive prequel to their upcoming next-gen game Human Element.

Former Infinity Ward spokesperson Robert Bowling, who left this year to found Robotoki, is already promising a Ouya-only prequel to his next-generation game, Human Element.

It makes some sense for a platform everyone has questions about to gain an exclusive from a game everyone has questions about, too. Bowling has said the proper game is coming in 2015.

In any case, Bowling recorded a video promising an episodic prequel to Human Element that gives players a taste of how the world changed immediately after zombies showed up. The game scheduled for the next set of game consoles actually takes place 35 years after, so it’s a significant leap back in the fiction.

His game isn't said to be coming for another 3 years, doesn't exactly need anyone there right now really.

whats the point in announcing a game thats 3 years away in the first place? especially when you have no staff and no office to being with.

He's got a vision and wants to sell people on it. He has to get his name, brand and vision across and out there since everything is going to be self-financed until he gets a publisher.

Also obviously has to build confidence in the vision so people don't think they're going to a studio that isn't going to be doing anything but playing with their dicks for a few years.

I don't like Bowling, but he's doing nothing wrong right now. Of course, everything he's saying could be a total fabrication and just be what we want to hear, similar to a Peter Molyneux.

i don't know how else to say you're wrong other than what i've already said

ouya will very likely be dead in 3 years time, hype on the internet dies after a week. not to mention does bowling even make games, isn't he just a pr guy? so at the moment his company has 1 pr guy making a game for next gen consoles and an android box 3 years from now.

Wrong about what??? You have zero basis for being 'right' about anything!

And weren't you liking Ouya a week ago? 'A lot of potential'?

And he's the founder of the new developer. He will delegate roles, he's not the one making the game. People from all sorts of game development backgrounds can start successful studio's. 7 years at the most successful studio in the world over the last 7 years says he's coming from the right place.

Sometimes it's exactly what a development studio needs, someone who can talk confidently about their product.

Once again, I don't like Bowling, but he's doing nothing wrong. Take the patch off, as well as the pole out of your arse and look at it properly.

there's no point even trying to reason with you
And by that you mean you have no idea what you're saying. Understood.

A first impressions video by ScrewAttack. Doesn't look like something I would buy, but it could be good in the future...
