Was very impressed by the fact we didn't fold after the first half. There was some very good movement in the second half it could have been 100+ in any other year.

Pav's contested marking these last three weeks has been as good as any point in his career.

I thought he was past past his best earlier this year, but it's starting to look like it just took him a while to relearn his craft up forward. Hopefully we can get another two years of real quality out of him in front of goals.

I think this may be a bi-product of the game plan in that Pav is now finding himself one out a lot more.
I don't think I've seen another player who wins as many man on man marking contests as Matt Pavlich.

This being said we look too slow, I don't think adding just Hill and Mora is going to fix it, seems like we need faster players pretty much everywhere. Most of collingwoods players looked to be at the pace of Balla, one of our fastest.

I think it's pretty much the intent you have when you gain possession of the ball. When the Pies got the ball, they just do what it takes to get it into their forward line - sometimes it looks kamakazi, but they also have enough players with a football head & skills, who once they've got the ball can some up the situation and proceed. Once we get the ball, its stagnant and not decisive, especially if we dont have anyone up ahead.

I thought griffin battled well and he is so much mobile than sandi. He runs and likes to offer an option for the backline. Pav was sensational, rarely got put in the middle and gave a target all day up forward. Barlow is getting better and better, his best will come in the short term. It was a positive end to the game and surely will give us more confidence on the next few weeks, just need a little more dash and flair. It's not far off.

1 positive not mentioned - the game plan. I thought it kept us in it early when we probably deserved to be 7 goals down at 1/4 time, Colingwood kept having to go out to the flanks when going forward and our forward line structures were effective.

Alas the game plan doesn't help much when you get massacred in the middle. Inside 50's were 68 to 33 FFS....

Yeah, that's right. A quarter here, a quarter there (1st Q today, 4th Q last week) is all we're missing from the top flight teams, Still not good enough, but shows that there's something in the brewing in the fundamentals of this team.

Even though we got flogged in the first quarter (except for the overall score if that makes sense), I thought the work ethic was fairly high for the majority of the game. The boys really tried hard, but Collingwood worked at least as hard and were better at it. The effort is clearly visible and that is a positive.

Barlow is almost back to his best.
Mundy was a little better.
Ballantyne was excellent.
Pav has readjusted to being a key forward.
Teamp layed well for 3 quarters.
We have Hill, Morabito, Fyfe, Mellington, and Dawson to bring back into the side.

Don't agree about Mzungu Lach 72. Seems to run around aimlessly most of the time. Just my opinion though, he did do some good things.

Barlow. He improves exponentially as every week goes by.
Pav's 5
Goal kicking was excellent besides two horrendous misses early.
Mayne and Ballatyne fought hard all day.

Ultimately we were no where near good enough though. Our middle tier is below average at best, and there isn't enough class at the top to cover it.

A lot of the work Mzungu did in pushing the ball forward instead of messing around with it resulted in scores.

Yep. Thought the same about Barlow. Get sick of watching our garbage hand-balling into trouble. I noticed that when Collingwood hand-balled out of trouble it usually went to someone in a better position. Whereas we usually ended up in the same trouble or worse. I'm sure our guys used to play "hot potato" at school.
