Chinese audiences don't give a rats arse unless the sport is Chinese basketball, Euro basketball, US basketball and replays of basketball. Sometimes, Soccer, Badminton and/or Ping Pong get a look in, but that's all they bloody show on CCTV 5, so much so that it makes you want to go outside...but when you do, all you will see in the streets and parks is endless amount of kids playing basketball...you won't see any with a footy.
Well how else are they going to know about or play footy if you don't try to show it to them first, dummy?

There isn't anywhere to play it, no grass grounds exist like we have here, so you can't reinforce what they may see and like on the telly by handing them a ball and going outside to kick it with them.

Further, Chinese winters are brutally cold. Footy can't be marketed as a winter outdoor sport. I was there last month and it was minus 10 - in the daytime!

The physical nature of our game would not sit comfortably with doting Chinese mothers who have 1 child. Basketball does not have that image problem that's one reason parents let boys play it.

Go down South Terrace and see how many Chinese kids are out there playing basketball every weekend. Chinese don't give a shit about footy and they never will.

Pursuing the Chinese market is a waste of money and time.

This guy has a point.

I mean, let's not try selling anything but ice to Eskimos because they exclusively live in, on, over and under the stuff, so why would they want any different.

Dummy post of the year:drunk: Pretty sure we did our research before embarking in such an experiment. How would you know what a over a billion people give a shit about?

I know them all and they hate Port.

Like you researched Bay Covers? Like you researched the Port Power pre game float?

Ok then, it should work out well for you :thumbsu:

That's nice. Funny how they came back out after we used them a few times.

Who cares if soccer did it first? Port has a fanatic supporter base that made it work. Same with the growth of NTUA, which was initially just a simple pre-game montage on the ground screens.

Only 15 years? Port's is well-known as the best in the league and other clubs are scrambling to improve theirs - look at Rihcmond for example :$:$:$

Well you'd better up the ante on the entertainment and brand it as entertainment instead of footy as not many will be turning up to watch the shit your side is serving up. I go to watch footy, not a bunch of morons waving scarves and singing.
