Anyone rate this band,i think they are the most successful band without any radio time, if not. who do you think are??

RIP Brother Dime....

Awesome awesome band, that's about all I can say without going into great length.

9/10 for me.

Saw them live in Brisbane...
Band was good.... Anselmo was so wasted I walked out half way:thumbsd:

Slayer own Pantera IMO

Vulgar Display remains one of the most mind blowing metal albums i've ever heard.

have to agree with that. :thumbsu:
classic album

Not really radio time, but I remember the 'I'm Broken' clip being played on Video Hits when it came out. Probably the heaviest song I ever heard on VH though :D (although I haven't watched it for many years - if it still exists??)

Vulgar Display of Power and Cowboys From Hell are metal classics. Even though I've never been a fan of the ultra heavy slow guitars, and never liked Anselmo or his voice, Pantera are still so good simply because of one man, Dimebag Darrell. Up there with Angus Young in the ability to create compulsive riffs (one listen to Mouth For War for example is all it takes). Unbelievable guitarist and a huge loss to the metal community.

Great band.

Vinnie Abbot is a total animal and together with Dime they just had that "Brother" thing happening when they played and wrote.

Rex was the perfect man for the job and Anselmos' dark lyrics never seem to tire.

I have every album from day one but only Cowboys and onward are in the car and they cop a thrashing.

Two points here. First, Malcolm Young, not Angus, has written just about all of AC/DC's riffs. Second, I'd actually compare Dimebag to Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, in that he could cram 4 or 5 riffs into one song that were good enuff to break up and make entire songs of their own out of.

Pantera kick ass, they are the best band for getting fired up before sports!

I can't believe anyone hasn't mentioned Far Beyond Driven yet, that was their best album by far!

That album just grabs you firmly by the balls from the first second of track 1 and doesn't let go until the end of the last track!

Loved them. One of my biggest regrets in life is never having the opportunity to see them.
I hear ya.
Such an awesome group.
If you haven;t seen it already try and get your hands on a copy of 'Pantera- behind the music'. It follows the group from the very start of proceedings, with Dime and Vinnie in spandex suits, playing 18th birthday parties right thru to the break up of the band and the murder of Dime.
It's quite sad in reality. There's actual footage of the shooting which is like a kick in the guts, but the doco as a whole is top notch.

The 'Vulgar Video' still gets me in the mood to party like no other video on earth.

My bad. Credit Malcolm then. Though I'm pretty sure Angus has written a lot of the bands stuff as well.

Not quite sure where you get the comparison with Iommi though.

Yeah I've seen that. The footage of the shooting is quite harrowing but it's quite a good doco.
