From round 1 I have been telling my old man and my mates we have been carrying too many passengers and we were exposed today.

  • Johnson, Palmer, McPhee

Just to name a few.

Utterly disappointed, if we keep missing the mark every now and then and keep carrying passengers we will not taste the ultimate glory.

McPhee isnt a passenger-
Johnson definitely
Rhys - definitely atm
Roberton has been poor for a string of matches now

The problem is these guys are our depth with the injury list we have, there aren't many after them that could come in.
The perspective is we are 4 wins 2 losses. We come against the Eagles at home next week which we need to be up for

I don't agree that McPhee is a passenger, however in games like this everyone looks bad and particularly McPhee. I do think that he needs to GTFO of forward line though. All shit kicks need to GTFO. I think Jack is a monty for derby.

I agree with Johnson completely.
I honestly don't really think Palmer has much of a future in AFL football.
McPhee did a lot of dumb things today, still worked harder than a lot.

I have now calmed down a little now and on second thoughts, McPhee was not that bad.

However, Johnson couldn't hit a target to save his life.

Rhys - Losing it??? So slow and his decision making is hurting us badly.

Roberton did close to nothing when he came on but the momentum had already shifted

Pitt needs more time in the WAFL

Agreed

- Johnson is lacking confidence and form. To be dropped
- Palmer stays but boy his touch is not good as I've said previously, especially handballs and ground ball pick-ups.
- McPhee out of forward line please, he can take over Johnson's non existant game.
- With Johnson dropped in comes Jack Anothony (Bradley rotates between Ruck and forward line)
- Not sure what to make of Roberton, he came in late but was ordinary as Sub when he should have been fresh - seems to be lagging behind his opponent. I think he is a chance to be dropped for either Crowley/Crichton/Mitchie

I really hope Ballantyne's hammy is ok.

The big positive was centre bouch clearances, which was then linked to biggest negative from today. The Centre bounce clearance bombs into the forward line enabled Richmond to set-up attack after attack from half back. All of our key players made crucial mistakes with 150 entries (i.e. Pav, Mundy, Sandilands and even Fyfe); what is wrong with use of handball to open play and keeping possession of the ball. Some of these kicks almost brought rain and reminded me of bad times in the past under cudles.

I think you are doing Roberton a disservice, he was instrumental in shifting momentum the Tiges way with his free kicks against and turnovers / handballs to team mates under pressure. How he keeps getting a game is just beyond me.

At least Mcphee has a red hot go.MJ looks like he's disinterested and poor Rhys is just completely out of sorts.Time to get Pav up forward too, that midfield gig is not working.

Pitt wasnt too bad but his body is certainly not AFL ready. Kicked a brilliant goal in the 3rd quarter and was quite composed in the last quarter. But unfortunately due to body size can't land a tackle and gets pushed off too easily in contests. Looked much better than Roberton though. Pitt should be playing WAFL agreed, but we have about 14 or so on our injury list. I would have Roberton in the gun before Pitt.

Pitt seems like a good Sub until we get players back from injury.

Clancy Pearce was quite serviceable I thought and Lower should have been used more by our clearance crew as we exited the centre bounce area. Both of them stay in the 21.

Mcphee not a passenger luv his effort an willingness to throw his body into packs to get the ball down.
But he drops far too many easy marks an fumbles alot.
Couldnt Anthony play that role?
He is a better mark and better on the lead.
Hard to drop a guy that tries so hard an does all that but we need more impact on scoreboard

MJ passenger all year doing nothing any half decent defender could do.

Rhys wasted in forward line therefore a passenger.
Went into centre square for a few bounces an played midfielder an looked alot better, reads sandi well an got a nice clearance, still some poor decisions an no confidence in himself.
Play in midfield or not at all as he becomes a passenger.

Pitt not ready for AFL YET passenger at the moment.

Passenger is the wrong term to use for McPhee - he wasn't a passenger. Like most have already mentioned, the guy has a red hot crack. A liability would be more accurate to describe him.

Mind you he wasn't alone, guys like Ibbo, Pearce, Pitt, Roberton and even Pav were a liability today.

The only real passengers today were Jonno, Rhys and perhaps Mayne.

I took my comments about McPhee being a passenger back, I just became a keyboard warrior in my rage.

McPhee's no passenger, he puts in his all. He just can't kick a goal to save his live at the moment. That 50 he got was also bullshit.

You simply cannot make that comment while Mayne is our full forward. Choppers forward pressuer is great but in both of our losses this year he has missed 2 or 3 easy set shot goals. We should have been 4 goals up at quater time, our forwards and leadership group have to stand up and take responsibility for letting the team down.

McPhee is fine,
Palmer was a joke, his worse game among bad games, he must go. He caused numerous turn overs. Replace him with walters or Crighton.

Johnson must go surely. McPhee to the backline and anthony into the forward line. If not he should go when Silvagni is available

Mayne should be a flanker, he is just not a good focus. Pav should be at CHF, he is looking slow in the middle, I think he would be more damaging as a focus

Roberton will find it hard to hold his place when Mzungu and Hayden are available

The defence was ok today when you think how quick the ball was coming into their forward line.

Our forward line lacked focus and structure (except bradley) - there was so many times that the ball was bombed into a group of 3-4 forwards all trying to mark at the same time. The forwards need a kick up the arse for that performance

It has been obvious to me all year that we are fine in the midfield.
as long as we have hold of the ball.
Ballantyne has been used in the centre as a pace player to help our
ball winners out.
As soon as he went off today & Cotchin & co got there hands on it,
our boys don't have the speed to match them.
We need some speed in the mix to work with Mundy & co.
Matty Deboer is usually in there, but he was busy keeping Martin to little influence, so Hardwick thru him forward a smart move by him.
This didn't help us as Matty is our best tackler by far in the centre setup & now he isn't in there.
We are pining for a player who can break away form stoppages consistently,
Hilly can become that player, but at the moment he doesn't have enough help to be that player.
Harves is right too many passengers if you want to be a top four team,
there will be changes.

You know how they say you can't replicate goal kicking under match conditions in practice?

How about we give Mayne 10 sets shots at goal from 30m out at a slight angle. Every one he misses he gets tasered??

Honestly thought Rhys was good when in the centre. As someone else said above he reads sandi very well and won a couple of clearances. I think ibbo is a bigger worry. For someone with such a large frame who claimed he was training to become an "inside mid" he gets pushed off the ball and goes to ground way too easy.

Guys, i see it as a good thing that freo fans no longer take losses at the mcg as a given. Your team is on the rise and for the first time ever i have enjoyed watching freo play. You are 1-2 years off another crack at a premiership, these losses will happen, it is not a year for freo to win it. Look 1 to 2 years into the future and these players that you might seem out of form and borderline can have a big impact at a flag. I remember laughing at hunter in his early years and also glass. Just a few need to step up when collingwood falters, good luck we need the wa teams to go the next step.

Rhys is yet another midfielder who is terrible at putting pressure on, when he doesn't have the ball.
This makes him a huge liability to the team, sad as it sounds we would be better off developing Jesse Chricton at the moment
