Debut: Round 1 1999 V Collingwood
Recruited From: Vermont

Drafted at the age of 25 from Vermont, Barlow is one of the last of the ‘suburban footballers’ to make the highest grade. Picked up at 86 in the 1998 National Draft, Barlow is a mobile forward who can play tall or small and has great marking ability.

Dogged early by wrist injuries, he endured a slow start to his AFL career. However, he found some good form late in 1999 and carried that promise into 2000 where he played 21 games. From there, Barlow has become a fixture on the half-forward line, utilising his versatility and fine conversion, but occasionally beset by inconsistency.

A five-goal haul against Collingwood in 2001 showcased the talent Barlow can display up forward. He also showed excellent form on the half back line throughout 2003, and seems to have the skills and motor to be a successful wingman.

An unfortunate knee injury in Morwell at the start of 2004 completely ruined his season, and he just made it to the 100 game milestone. Barlow was delisted at the end of 2004 as he was not seen to be part of the new youth policy, but he had given good service to the Hawks.

Where is he now? Works as a Carpenter and still coaches in local footy in Melbourne

I used to play on this guy in the EDFL, he once told me I was the only player in the comp that cold beat him. Defensively correct but i had nowhere near the skills he had offensively.

I used to do Auskick with his son and I vividly remember Kris getting in trouble for visiting Auskick whilst suspended or something. Or maybe I am just remembering things wrong, oh well. I was like 6 at the time.

We had a lot of players around this time who teased with occasionally brilliant performances.........which were never repeated consistently. I liked Barlow but he was one of them.

Came across Kris in St Kilda grabbing a hot dog from a vendor and had a chat. Was a pretty nice bloke and enjoyed a bit of a reminisce.
Fair to say he was one of the most pickled men alive :drunk:

You caught him on a pretty good night then. Not a bad bloke but an angry drunk if you ever saw one.

I played at Vermont too, and wasn't the only teammate to have come to blows with him over the years.

Was a very handy player for us though (HFC). Played some great footy for us, and grafted a pretty good career.
