I know it's extremely early to suggest a match-up like this, but the thought of these two lining up on each other in a week and a half is literally making me drool.

Two of the most talented young KPP in the league matching it up against each other?

Cannot wait.

Franklin may just have a bit too much bulk for Ryder at the moment. I suspect Fletcher will get the Franklin match up.

I reckon in a matchup situation, Ryder would beat Franklin, but i think Franklin will be an absolute superstar. This coule end up being the next Carey - Jackovitch matchup, albeit with very different players

I'm not too sure of that, but then again, i've only seen a couple of Ryder's games so far.

What's his motor like?

Franklin will try and drag him around the ground if he plays on him.

It will a fantastic match-up if it eventuates.

Hasn't got the motor to go with Franklin.
If Clarkson plays Franklin deepish then the match up may occur but more than likely McPhee will get him.

Ryder won't lack any pace that is for sure, he showed a turn of speed that we havent seen before. he has a lot more gears than he usually lets on.

I thoink sheeds will want ryder on somebody less dangerous so he can zone off and be the third man into marking contests ala how Jacobs likes to play.

That would be great matchup in a few weeks.

I reckon Sheeds will make it happen.

Ryder will beat Franklin in the marking contests and and one on ones I reckon. Every goal I've seen Franklin score this year he's been alone in the forward 50 swinging onto his left boot to bang it through.

Only concern is Ryder might go ball chasing and stand off him to far and leave Franklin which could be costly.

i dont think you would waste your time with mal on roughhead but if he is loose then no doubt he will be picked up by someone like michael of equal heighht....... just skill wise mal is far more advanced

Roughead or Croad is about the only matchup mal has this week, if neither play perhaps Mal should have a rest.

croad would be the best match up for him on the day........ i wouldnt rest him cause his defensive experience in the side adds alot to the side and can be destructive when he gains possession and could give others to run off their backman and deliver to fwds. use him to advantage as a sort of free man?

I actually considered the free man option after posting. If sat 25 metres out from goal he could help cover Williams and whomever Hawthorn choose as their tall leading goalsquare forward, I must admit when he does have the ball he has a cool head and his disposal is usually A-Grade.

fletch will play on buddy
mal will take roughead
paddy on boyle
and slats would go on williams
I suppose that leaves Welsh on Dixon. Man, they have more forwards than I realised. All of them are decent players too. I think Hawks will go a long way very soon.

This is funny me an one of my best mates(hawk mad) have been talking this one up for ages. And i was going to post it on the board but you jumped in first. The future match ups are going to be awesome to watch.

Just found out Croad is in some sort of doubt. I havent seen much of the Hawks, but has he been out injured? On the hawks board they were talking about a "foot hot spot" problem. If Croad is out then Mal will be left with very few match up possibilities.
