Is there any chance of Paul getting dropped this week?
Does Connoly hate him or something cause he only gets 51% gametime on the weekend and gets 15 touches. I just get the feeling he is on the verge of bring dropped considering he was also named on the extended bench ;ast week. Or is he injured?

He has a bad back, which limits his effectiveness. He'll only be dropped for injury, because when he is 100% he is a brilliant clearance speciality. You just need to watch his Melbourne game, and the first half of the Collingwood game to see this guy will not be dropped unless he is injured.

I think he is still carrying an injury, maybe he should get rested to bring in someone like foster or ibbo? As much as I like Haselby, there isn't much point having someone that is only 50% fit for AFL games, even when our season is on the line, risking him is a bit silly.

Could not run out of sight in a week.
Other teams are putting players on him with the idea of running off and he can't go with them.
If he is not fit then don't select him.
If he is fit then a spell in the WAFL may be the answer.
It's about time Foster and co got a chance to show what they have got!:thumbsd:

I really think he needs to go out of the team for a while until he improves.

He is way too slow at the moment, and when the opposition has been winning it out of the packs 65% of the time we are left chasing. He honestly can't keep up, I think a young player with plenty of pace would be better even if it's just to put pressure on the opposition midfielders.

Get your head out of the sand. 21 possessions in 2 weeks for a $400k a yr midfielder, happy with that are you and 4 of them were kicks of the ground

exactly.

pistol17 what you seem to be failing to get your head around, is that we have a salary cap. sure there are half a dozen others that should go before him, but they do not receive the renumeration that he does.

In hindsight, Hase getting through the whole season was a bit unlikely. Both his injury history and prolonged recovery from surgery (could he even raise a gallop till January?) suggested he would do it tough this year.

Fair enough to play him in our last roll of the dice for 2007 though. By that I mean yesterday, not next week.

How does everyone know he has a back problem?
What do you think are his chances of playing this weekend?

Hase has had a back problem for years. Along with his OP/hernia issues of the last 2-3 years he struggles to get around the ground. At his best he is still an exceptional player, but unfortunately we don't often see Hase's best anymore.

Just checked out POTY votes to see where hase dropped off. Now I know we don't vote and award votes in the same way that the MC does, bit we are learned enough about footy to know when someone has played a blinder, has been a solid contributor or has done bugger all.

Hase is currently on 40 votes for the season on a 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 votes basis. He is in the lead, with Bell second on 37, and Pav, Des and Hayden equal third on 35.

Hase was on 39 at the end of round 10. He was the bolter after having an awesome start to the season. So in the past 5 games he has scored 1 vote - and that was in round 12.

Form doesn't just drop off so dramatically so quickly - he must be injured again / still; and probably should be rested. He is doing four-fifths of not much at all at the moment, and so is not helping the "still trying to make the 8" cause - but if by a miracle they do get there, then if he has been properly rested, we might just get him back fit and healthy right when we need him to be fit and healthy most...

imperial purple you clearly know more than most of us about fremantle. so i ask you to please explain to me how i can learn to embrace haselby. where am i going wrong?

why do we need to pay $20000 or so a game to someone who has what seems to be a chronic injury.

it seems to me he gets the easy possessions. which is why people keep voting for him. i would really like to compare how his opponents are fairing.
because he does not have the pace to keep up with them.

also, it seems obvious to everyone that our midfield is failing. does this not reflect on the effectiveness of our leading possession taker? he is never the one on the bottom of the pack. and with his injury who could blame him. all i am saying is that he is not getting the 'tough' possessions.

That is just absurd. Haselby is 1st in clearances. He leads our 1st Possessions and is 2nd in contested possessions for the club. No, this guy doesn't get the hard possessions at all. Please.

If we are going to sack Haselby as jeffle wants the club to do, then do we have a replacement for him?. Theres absolutely bugger all on our list that has the same ability that Haselby has when he's on song and unless we have a good enough replacement/s than forget about getting rid of him.

Don't get hung up on the money. His next contract will be worth what he is worth. I f Hase wasn't getting stats in the packs he wouldn't get many at all.
We need a few other mids to step up around the ground to help carry Hase. If he is injured then give him a proper rest. JC needs to step up, been poor over the last month.

Haselby's manager has apparently indicated that he will be seeking a 'modest' increase on his $450,000 per annum contract.

As I see it, since his last contract was negotiated, he has been largely injured. I am not sure if you know anyone with a back injury... but they do not get better.

If that is true I cant see Hase being signed on. How can we increase a contract when his performances have decreased due to injury.

Does anyone know what is wrong with Hasleby exactly?

Looked to be back to his all australian form mid-season, but has really dropped off.

Last 2 weeks has only got about 55% game time. Is that due to injury or fitness?

Like Sandilands, why are you playing him if he is not fit.
